Like Genji said Stirling Moss also made comments regarding Hamilton and Webber couldn't understand what was going through Lewises mind at the start of the race. I like what Lewis brings to F1 and don't think he should be punished anymore, it's a shame that all these F1 vets jump on a bandwagon to bash him. For me it's annoying when F1 greats get tired of the F1 circus (Kimi for example) and I wouldn't want to see Hamilton leave F1 prematurely, even Schumi came back after a while, when the dust has settled nobody got killed or injured by Hamilton and there were plenty of other drivers in the wars yesterday who didnt get all this hype and attention.
Hamilton could have done very well yesterday, people like Stirling should back off a bit, your not racing now mate. Hamilton is a true racer that deserves better, he will come back fighting this season I reckon.
Hamiltons main problem is he believes his own hype and thinks he can pass anyone in any conditions anywhere on the circuit, and has now crashed more times this month than Sebatian 'crash kid' Vettel has in the last 2 seasons, and all of them have been more his fault than anyone elses. He may even be the best racer out there (although I personally think it's Kobay) but he is severly lacking in his secondary skill set and continually makes very poor decisions, if he doesn't start thinking more then he does then he has a chance of ending his career with only 1 wdc. He has forgotten, or doesn't understand, the most important saying in motorsports; "you cannot win on the first lap of a race, you can only lose". If he took more notice of that then he probably would've won yesterday.
Did anybody see Kamui go from 13th to 7th when the race actually got underway lol. sorry but this kid has obvious skill in the wet, surely it was too risky going for a full wet setup.
I was seriously impressed with Kobayashi this weekend. I don't know if you've all watched Ted Kravitz's "From the Pitlane" on the BBC website yet, but in it he said the reason Kobayashi didn't finish higher was because the team didn't pull him in for slicks quickly enough. Now whether thats because Kamui wasn't sure if he wanted them yet, or the team didn't feel confident giving them to him, or simply weren't ready quickly enough, I don't know, but without that he would almost certainly have been looking at finishing substantially higher.
Hamilton was pass webber, as webber said he left enough room for him to get past, hamilton, hit webber, 3/4 way up his car,, as the stewards report clearly states, lost grip on the curb, and could not avoid the colision for a legitmate mve. As for the Button call, when you have just taken your team mate off the track to stop him passing you, its best top get your one in first, same as vettel was doinglast year when taking out webber and making the crasy hand gestures to try and pin the blame on webber. Anyway onwards to the next GP, at least I have the gloruois site of vettels face after he cocked it up on the last lap to make me chuckle!
Three-time Formula 1 world champion Niki Lauda has warned Lewis Hamilton he will end up killing someone if he continues to drive in the same manner. Hamilton crashed out of the Canadian Grand Prix after just eight laps following a collision with team-mate Jenson Button. Stewards could still punish Hamilton, who had already escaped punishment for an earlier crash with Red Bull’s Mark Webber, over the incident. The double-controversy, hot on the heels of a similar story in Monaco led Lauda to criticise Hamilton's approach. He called on the governing body, the FIA, to take action against the McLaren driver during his commentary for German station RTL. He said: “What Hamilton did there goes beyond all boundaries, He is completely mad. If the FIA does not punish him, I do not understand the world any more. At some point there has to be an end to all the jokes. You cannot drive like this — as it will result in someone getting killed.” Hamilton was already courting controversy after his outspoken comments following two collisions at Monaco. His joking suggestion that he had might have been hauled before the stewards five time in six races “because I am black” did not go down well. The 26-year-old managed a more diplomatic assessment of his latest collisions. He said: “I felt that I was at least halfway alongside him. Jenson made a mistake going into the final corner so I was able to get a better exit, and was coming down the outside of him. I don’t know if he could see me or not, but he just kept coming over and over.” BBC pundit David Coulthard disagreed with Hamilton's version of events. He said: “If that’s Lewis’s idea of halfway I wouldn’t want to share my chocolate bar with him.”
All proper articles are posted to the forum as well as the news section. This is gonna happen quite a few times from now on so I'm gonna get the mods to merge such threads together with the proper article as the base.
Is that necessary? It's just that now that they've been merged the first comment on the news article is me calling the Sun ****s.
He made a mad lunge from miles back in wet and slippery conditions into a tiny gap that wasn't really there, it was all Hamiltons fault, Webber had even tried to give him room, but Hamilton had, not for the first time, made a poor decision which meant that it was always gonna end in an accident unless Webber stopped on track to wave him through.
...is terrible! The off-form Grenada International continued with yet another FOUR rule infractions in less than 10 laps yesterday. Do you think this will teach Hamilton some humility? x_x
good article, fully agree, unfortunatly some of the mods here are hammy fan boys so expect this to get deleted
This is a good point, genjiolene. I've read other comments identifying just that from other posters. My observation is that it isn't just Hamilton that can see Vettel romping away with it. How does Alonso handle Vettel sprinting off like a stabbed rat? He gets on with it. OK, he was a bit stubborn with Button, but Alonso rarely makes rash moves like Hamilton has been attempting recently. I doubt anyone in F1 considers themselves there to make up the numbers. Surely they can all see their championships slipping away. Are they getting frustrated and trying to go for gaps that aren't there? Why is Hamilton given licence to feel frustrated in this way? Surely the rest of the grid would like a faster car that could win them the title, not just Hamilton. I think the thing that most puts me off Hamilton is that he appears to see himself as being apart from the rest of the drivers. He thinks he is the fastest, and I believe this shows in the way he drives. After every incident he adamantly states he will not change the way he drives, mentioning (somewhat disingenuously in my opinion) that he is trying to put on a show for the fans, as if the fans are on his mind when he is trying to overtake people. If he refuses to change his "style" and continues driving as he has been doing then he will become a liability at McLaren, and the other drivers will lose their patience with him. There are already a number of drivers that take no crap from him whatsoever, for example Webber, Alonso and Massa. Now even Jenson Number 2 Driver Drives Like An Old Granny Button has stopped Hamilton from just bundling past him. How long before all of the grid know exactly how to deal with Hamilton's aggressive attempts at overtaking?
Agin with all due respect rubbish! Hamilton beat him into the corner, webber has already acknowledge this, however as stated in the steweards report, hamiltons trye lost grip on the wet curb, and he was unable to make his turn. Seriously you need to calm down, stop putting the pins into your hamilton voodoo doll and take a chill pill mate!
I think Lauda is talking a load of balls myself and just jumping on a bandwagon, a low speed crash at monaco and a couple of bumbs on a wet track, its hardly like senna taking off prost at japan or shumacher driving into Hill to delibrately damge his car is it. Too much daily mail style commentatiing going on I reckon.
