Can we please, please, please get someone in who -- while they may not be primarily a left back -- can cover that position sufficiently to prevent this from happening in the future? Pleeeeease?
It's a blow to lose Shaw and the only attacking options on the bench are Ramirez and Gallagher. Spurs look impressive in attack on paper but Soldado, Adebayor and Lamela are all very capable of disappearing. Still think anything can happen.
To be fair, Danny Fox has about 10 caps for Scotland...so he must have been doing something right. He's not as bad as people make out.
Indeed, the positives are that their attack has been rusty and not yet fired, and their midfield looks very open to dominate, the bad news is that they've still got a boatload of quality up front who could explode at any moment and our defence looks like a disaster waiting to happen. Before this I was hoping to take a win from this one and we still could but I'd be happy with a draw now.
Medial collateral + meniscal tear? I think I have the same thing but haven't got round to getting it sorted.
Four caps, I believe, and he's coming off a hamstring injury. I'm hoping to be proved wrong, but the Fox/Hooiveld combination was nothing but disastrous last year.
Looking at it positively, Spurs have got far too many attackers on the pitch. Their defence is there to be got at.
Our team is weak but none of that spurs midfield can tackle and I don't see the strikers tracking back to help out, they're entirely reliant on largely attacking midfielders bring disciplined enough to defend. It'll be a goal feet for both sides I reckon.
I still want a win. The teams look mismatched in our favour, and they are relying on their star players to perform. Spurs struggled physically against West Ham and we are a fit side, so we could exploit that. As ollysaints1 says, they probably have too many attacking players on the pitch and not enough grit, especially considering we're at home. Lamela isn't going to be interested in tracking back so Lallana or Rodriguez, whoever plays against him, will have a lot of space, and our five midfielders should dominate their four. Our defence looks shaky, but for them Walker is always vulnerable and Dawson has looked awful lately, so I see no reason to be too pessimistic.
