I was referring to trusting BR with big signings because of his record at the club so far. I was attempting to exclude Allen and Borini
Agree I'm not convinced but he's been much better lately. I backed Kuyt, Lucas and Henderson when they were getting stick because I could see they had something to offer as well as working tirelessly for the cause, I was struggling to see this with Allen. The last few games he has run his socks off and had much better game stats too.
I think the three mentioned you could identify each of their roles within the team, though all of them have shuffled positions in their career one way or another. You don't really get that with Allen, he doesn't have an identity and I think it's still a case of working out his best position. I've always said he should model his game on Modric, good intelligent passer of the ball and ball carrier, as he matures I think he'll do a great job in that role.
I know what you mean but I'm not sure that's entirely true for two of the three I mentioned. Kuyt arrived as a striker and played most games on the right. Lucas came as a AM and plays DM.
You can see in the last few games that Allen has been more confident on the ball and is playing more forward passes and actually running forward with the ball (although still needs to work on that). Remember in the Spurs game just because our first goal he plays some passes and carried the ball past a player down the right wing before playing a pass which then led to our goal. He's certainly improved and needs a good run of games to show he can step up. Anyway, let's not derail this into another Allen thread
