Sorry, but Flannagan has been better at defending and better at attacking than Johnson every match he's played. When GJ came over to the left it still needed more than his CB to cover his lazy arse (the RB at one point!!). Not once did he get a cross in, not once did he beat a man that resulted in a chance. All he did was give the ball away and watch the outcome. I count 3 games running on that stat now, would be more if not for that ONE cross to Suarez. Sick of players getting cudos based on performances from 2 years ago. To be on our team he has to be good now. He isn't and there's not even a glimmer of 'form' returning because there's no effort being displayed that would allow it to come back. If we don't get reinforcements in January I would be more that happy to have Enrique come back to LB and Flannagan to RB. Is Flannagan a superstar? No, but he's not as yet a liability. I'll say again to anyone claiming you can't ignore Johnson's class. Show me it. Show me it in a game recent enough to be relevant. It doesn't exist and worse: the attitude of a player who should be busting a gut to impress in world cup year is a disgrace. Had enough, **** the lazy bastard.
Completely agree Frank - his whole play is seems lazy (not in a physical sense). He dwells on the ball, his passing is sloppy etc etc. I mentioned before that I think he is on his way out unless he agrees to a pay cut. I think this is messing up with his head.
Flannagan's doing a good job at left back, but he'll tested a lot more in the next two games. The are some top quality young full backs out there. Ricardo Rodriguez from Wolfsburg would be a great signing, but he's a target for Chelsea and Milan so seems unlikely. He's scored 3 and made 2 in the Bundesliga this season from left back, and averages 3 tackles and 2 interceptions per game, which is statistically impressive defensively.
Ricardo Rodriguez and Montoya would be the ideal choices for the full back roles and certainly the types of player we should be looking at.
