Before all the Joey haters start opining that 'the mask has slipped' and that a 'leopard never changes it's spots', etc. Perhaps we should take a look over the whole season to offer some balance to today's incidents. I cannot help think that he gets short shrift when he's bitten and as today proved, when he's the biter the night vision binoculars are out scrutinising and jumping on misdemeanours that might otherwise warrant a stern crossed arm 'no more' lecture to other players. For me, the player of the season to date.
Spot on, ref couldn't handle the fact that joey told him in the first half that he was a cheating p*#ck
Poor love. No of course he deserves to get away with pulling his arm back into a solid object (an opponent's face) by accident and then having a petulant strop when the ref deigns to book him for it. Before all the Joey apologists jump to rescue his reputation, let's get a few things straight. He has played well -occasionally our best player on the pitch but he does give the ball away a lot. He has been severely provoked at times. However he lost it today and has only himself to blame. Leicester did not mug him the way some teams do. He let us down. He was not the victim today. And if his reputation goes before him, he can hardly blame the rest of us for that. Take the blinkers off.
Sorry Sku, not with you on this one mate. Every player's reputation precedes them and rightly so. If someone's a dirty cu*t then refs are right to keep a close eye on them. Other players wouldn't be trying to wind Barton up so much if he wasn't such a scumbag in the past. He's been very good so far this season but he let his team down today. No sympathy.
He was a bit fortunate to get away with just a yellow for the initial foul but it was just petulancy that got him his second. He's an arrogant twat and its about time someone put him down a few pegs. But dont get me started on O'Neil.
Let me be clear on this. I'm no Joey apologist, just a Cerny apologist - and a long term one at that - as my signature will attest.
I thought Leicester were a filthy side today. Lots of dives and snide behaviour. They were lucky to win. Their fans were amazing though, really noisy. We need to finish properly we just do not create enough decent chances. Barton has been great this season, but today he gave the ball away a lot, got frustrated and got himself sent off. The referee was clueless, didn't know how to take control and made many mistakes, some in our favour (O'Neil) most were not, we deserved one if not two of the three penalty shouts. Our "we've signed Saurez" chant when the squirrel came on was the best part of the game.
Na mate, none of them were even close to being penalties I'm afraid. We simply didn't manage to break them down enough so its our own fault not the refs or anyone else's.
I am Nostradamus, predicted on the match day thread that we would have a 'reputation played a part' response. Trouble is his reputation is deserved, and even without seeing it I'm sure this sending off is, because he is a **** and I'm sick of him.
Come on now. This must be a joke? Benayoun, Kranjcar and Phillips were, to be blunt, a disgrace at times. You can tell they've got PL experience. They know how to con a ref. Thankfully todays ref had the bottle to stand up to the type of decisions that weak refs often give. You all know my thoughts on O'Neil. You had your chances and so did we. We were fortunate enough to take one of ours and so we won. Fair play, it was a good game but I think you can tell that when QPR management say "a point would have been fair" and when Leicester management say "we should have put the game to bed" that you know we deserved it. You played well first half but you have to credit us with respect. We deserved the points today.
when your management mentioned putting the game to bed, what they were trying to say is your boring ****s
My word, how many of our threads does he have to get involved with? Doesn't he have somebody else to talk to back home?
Barton was warned in the first half when the ref brought both him and Hill in to tell Joey to shut it. He could have been booked on a number of occasions and the first yellow was accumulative as well as the fact it was a blatant and petulant foul. And then to be so stupid as to run your mouth and kick the ball at the opponent WHEN YOU ARE ON A YELLOW CARD with your team is pressing for a vital, potentially promotion deciding point, is mind boggling. The only thing even more idiotic and embarrassing was the rendition of "one joey barton" as he left the pitch. Yes he has been very good this season, exceptional at times, but once again he has let down the club when we needed him most.
To quote Pearson after the game "on another day they could have taken their chances and it could have been very different". Don't know what interview you've seen? You could have put the game to bed but we could and should have been 2 or 3 up before you scored. I thought Leicester did well, perfect away performace to be fair, Nugent and Vardy are always a handful. Think we'll both be there or there abouts in May, our strength in depth might prove crucial. As for Barton, you could tell from the first five minutes the ref wanted to send him off and unfortunately Joey gave him the opportunity by being stupid. The ref was a ****, absolutely useless like all the rest. When he overruled the lino a gave them a corner because they complained I knew it was all over and we weren't getting anything. Oh and Swords, the foul on Hoilett was a penalty, anywhere else on the pitch he gives a free-kick.
