Part of the problem putting rivalries to one side for a few seconds is the 1992 (SKY) disease and government social cleansing, supported by various media propaganda. We are now two decades in to this virus, so any one younger than 21 will not truly know the passions and traditions from experience. Two to three decades back you would have died to protect your badge, name, colours these days its all just become a premier/champions league tv glory toy. Sad really. Even at my own footballing home, I know Scally is looking for investors for our new stadium, in truth I don't quite share that same want for fears of what I've seen spreading throughout the game. In truth I'm happy remaining lower league if we get left alone by money mogul's...many will find that really hard to believe or understand but true passion is in the heart, not at the sight of shiny silverware. Yes, I want the best for my club and the highest possible position within budget but not at selling our soul.
The only reason Cardiff are in the Premier League (or Championship) is because they have lived beyond their means via Risdale, Hamman and now Tan. Without Tan's money and their huge red bank account they wouldn't have had money for McKay to 'overspend'. The same has happened with other clubs and I can not be sorry for those that implode having lived on money they don't have. Good clubs fail to get into the higher leagues because of the scum bags who are prepared to again artificial success. As for Tan, given the chants of the Cardiff followers today, I'd be out of there in a heartbeat and take my money with me. Utterly ungrateful.
Banter is great fun but to hate another club then you need to see a psychiatrist quick as it's only a game..
I speak purely for true football supporters not glory hunters, whatever club that maybe. I would still support my club even if non-league. However, the problem is the money men are forced up on us, we don't have a choice or say, because we get far outweighed by the rise of the plastics and government agendas. I agree in part what you say about how clubs come about their rise and fall (implode). Completely against my beliefs and yes in part deserved. But the one's I feel most sorry for are the hardened supporters that would be prepared to complete a 500 mile round journey midweek on a December night when it is blowing a gale, regardless of what league they are in or team they are playing. Swansea and Cardiff will both have supporters that will follow at all cost but for any measure of numbers, I suppose you can only look back in your histories at attendances during your lowest positions over so many decades, to get a true feel of numbers. I'd be prepared to lose a tan and return to lower league football, how many supporters on here would hand on heart be prepared to do the same (not meant as some sort of competition)? Hatred will only defeat us all in the long term but I see every club's demise as a good thing, because it means a return of the badge to the true supporters but i don't wish it upon them just the same.
"As for Tan, given the chants of the Cardiff followers today, I'd be out of there in a heartbeat and take my money with me. Utterly ungrateful. " Getting the Club out of trouble financially doesn't give Tan, or any owner for that matter, the right to dictate match tactics from the stands or to publicly rebuke the Manager, greatly embarrassing him in the process. I think far too many Cardiff fans have been overly "grateful" and have given Tan a very easy ride following these revelations. But you're right in one respect, it's Prem at any cost for some and if that means getting into bed with the devil and selling your soul then so be it.
