Anyone on here use one of these? http://connaughtshaving.com/merkur34c.html I'm thinking about getting one, although would like to hear first hand opinion. How user friendly is it? How much are the blades? And finally, is it smooth enough or will I end up having my face look like I've been attacked by a ketchup bottle?

I've only just discovered shaving in the shower (dunno why I never tried it before it seems obvious) and it's great. The power of the water blasts the hair from between the blades so the thing stops becoming clogged up and blunt after about 2 minutes, tapping the side of the sink just doesn't clean the thing properly. Just do a wee tidy up with the mirror when you're out and you're sorted.
The new ones seem to get clogged up in seconds, the fancier ones are the worst. A cheap razor and unblock with the corner of the towel works every time Not tried shaving in the shower yet, wouldn't be too keen on blind shaving though...
Tight wad? I've got a beard! And I mean proper facial hair, not like that whispery wee thing your boyfriend sports on his upper lip. What's happening to this place? Discussions on how best to shave? It's a slippery slope...
That's a safety razor. This is an open blade razor: please log in to view this image I wouldn't trust myself with one, but I treated myself to a shave in a proper barber's when I was on holiday on Turkey. Closest shave ever. I was expecting the guy to get the hot towels out at the end. Instead he put some cotton wool on a stick, dipped it in alcohol, set it on fire and wafted it about my face. I suppose it has the same effect as the towels, but I almost shat myself as I'd no idea what he was up to at first.

I was thinking about this myself. Gillette are ****ing highway robbers, there blades are extortionate.
Aye its a safety razor am after. Sorry am half asleep here, it was a heavy weekend. Every time I go to buy a packet of 8 razors they seem to have went up in price, its a rip off and they dont last very long. At least if I get one of these safety razors I'll have this nice shiny thing that wont clutter up the bathroom and all I'd need to buy are blades which cost £10 for 100. Each blade lasts a week so thats 2 years of shaving sorted, think you can sharpen them as well Also, they will make a good weapon for the next time some Chapeltown hoodrat tries to invade my house.
