Give it some time, my buddy from Hull hardley has one anymore. My southern accent only comes out when I am drunk now, although people seem to know that I am from there but I cant tell anymore.
Patty, the important questions now,,, Do you own a cowboy hat? Do you have a gun rack in your pickup? Have you had a conversation about which barbecue is the best barbecue in the country? If its yes to all 3 than you are soon going to be an offical Texan.
There was at least some logic in the Wimbledon and Coventry decisions because of problems but not many people can think of any logic in Allam's plan. If a sponsor/shirt sales/overseas fans were going to appear because of the name "Tigers" there could be more emphasis on our nickname rather than the need to change the name.
The "other priorities" argument: so what if all the fans wear pink skirts and hop on one leg - it's better than your house being repossessed and getting knocked down by a bus. I just don't see the issue in either/or terms.
If the FA support the name change they know they will face prolonged complaints and ridicule from fans and the media. Eventually a new owner will emerge who will restore our original name. If the FA reject the name change will they be subject to demonstrations from Assem Allam? Is Allam's more likely response to accept the decision, try to destroy the club or put the club up for sale and recoup as much of his money as possible? If the latter I would think there would be a lot of interest in buying the club but maybe not at the price Allam would be happy with.
I've known people with strong northern accents move to London from the north and the next day start talking like most people in London. I've lived in London for 40 years now and people in London still say I have retained my northern accent and people in Hull say my accent is not as strong as it used to be. I think they are both right!
His point was "why bother"? If there was a thread about somebody eating a burger in Singapore I wouldn't rant about not bothering.
Yes, I can read. Maybe he thinks it's ridiculous people going onto threads on subjects they profess not to care about.
