Fantasy football favourite returns, cannot wait to see if he still has it. Come on Clint lead us up the league
A 'trialist' played 45 mins for the 21s today in a behind closed doors friendly, I wonder was it Clint?
Just waiting now for the confirmation. Not sure it will all come out. As discussed previously, players, clubs and AGENTS all can play a part. Not helped by the poor behaviour of RedScouse. Clint better get a rousing reception at The Cottage - Hope I'm there!!!!
I said this back in May when there was speculation about Dempsey returning. One of the things I've learnt through life is that you can never go back. It's never quite the same and I am sure Clint would find things had moved on and our style of play had changed - as Capt. says quite a few of his then team mates will be ex team mates when the season starts and he would be forging new relationships which may not be just as effective. Much as I like him I think it would be wrong to have him back. I stand by this. I like Dempsey, but I really am not sure if this is a clever move for either party. Happy to be proved wrong, and hopefully I will be, but I furrowed my brow at this news and it remains furrowed, I'm afraid.
DEMPS I predict a goal in his first game, will donate £50 if wrong to a selected charity nominated by FFC 606rs.
If Dempsey does come back I don't see him being the same players we had before. The players who provided the ammo have gone. At the time he went to Spurs I said he might not fit in there as I was more convinced that his success in his last season was due to the way Jol played him where he could Ghost in unnoticed and pick up goals. At Spurs he was under pressure to perform and score goals from midfield straight away as he had more competition for his place, and the fans there soon got on his back when he didn't deliver. Hence why he was let go. The up side is that someone like Kasami could learn from him, and become a similar player, also Kasami might learn that moving onto a bigger club doesn't always work out. But Dempsey will play and probably take the place of Kasami or Kacaniklic.
Kind of assuming you were tongue in cheek FI but, this may have been the 'trialist': "After a successful season in Colorado, the Rapids shipped off four of their young stars to England for some offseason grooming. Goalkeeper Clint Irwin, midfielder Dillon Serna and defender Chris Klute were sent to Everton, while defender Shane O’Neill trained at Fulham, something the Rapids have done in years past in order to provide their young players training at the highest levels of international soccer. 20-year-old O'Neil represented the U.S. over the summer at the U-20 World Cup in Turkey." However as the article says his short time at Fulham wasn't a trial as such, rather it was to give the youngster the extra experience. The Dude's internal interview (pre-Norwich): Yee Yagh, indeed!!
Great to hear his commitment to helping us out. With the recent improvements this is the icing on the cake.
Will 'The Ghost' be back to his best, and where will they play him. If Berbatov stays will he play just behind him, or if he leaves will he get pushed up front as the lone striker with may be Kasami or Ruiz or Taarabt playing off him.
In case anyone was wondering, the Dude is not eligible to play in the game against West Ham on New Year's day.
The fact that he did leave under a bit of a dark cloud but still close to come back and try and help us out of this mess we are in says a lot about the man himself and his feelings for Fulham! If reports are to be believed there a were a few teams chasing him and I bet West Ham offered him more than us! Club Legend!!!
