When I opened my Wall Street Journal this morning, I was astonished to find an article featuring the name change controversy across the pond (plus the color-change controversy at Cardiff, which I was surprised to learn had gathered steam . . . I thought it had died away). http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702304773104579268251788127982
It seems the controversy of the name change, due to fans refusal to lie down and take it, has generated far more worldwide attention for our club than a seamless and unchallenged name change ever could have. Nice one. That's job done. We got ourselves a global identify as the club that values it's traditions. That's much more powerful than just another tigers brand. Something to work with perhaps.
Not just any USA publication. The WSJ is the equivalent of the Financial Times in the USA and is a global business newspaper. Great publicity for the campaign!
Great to see this, we aren't a ****ing US franchise we are Hull City AFC, if Allam had anything about him he would realise he had got all the publicity he needs already instead of sailing his canoe over a waterfall
So the whole world now know, we don't want to change our name. Over to you, Football association of England.
That was a classic moment on Saturday. At the meeting in Tiger's Lair Burnsy said he wanted to talk to somebody as he needed to get away to get to the ground only to be told he would have to wait as the person was talking to the Wall Street Journal. Surprised Burnsy has never mentioned it!
No, Happy - there's a world out there and it's watching this farcical Tan/Allam 'duel' (= who is the worst owner?) and I believe neither is coming out of it, at all well. Maybe the fact of the world watching might just inspire the FA blazers to act, to save the traditional values of the great game, before they're all irrevocably lost. (Or is that what you'd prefer?)
So we now care what the rest of the world thinks Stan? You think the FA will base traditional English football values on the thoughts and opinions of foreigners, and specifically Americans? Interesting.
Is it holding its breath Stan? Obi keeps coming out with this "the world is watching" bollocks. No one gives a ****. The traditional values etc were sold down the river years ago by the FA and the premier league. We have probably the only owner in the premier league who actually is a local amd who wants to help the area.
How about a link then Chazz? I say we will make history not the world is watching. Too different things entirely.
