I thought we could get rid of him in January, but it seems we are stuck with him until the end of the Season. I doubt that Bolton will want him back.
Sorry to say even I've given up on him. I still don't doubt if he has the ball in and around the area he will at least work the keeper, but he is reluctant to put himself in dangerous positions by making the runs. In the end, he'll ruin a once promising career.
I agree Super, his instictive finish vs Forest shows there is a player in there that can be dangerous around the penalty but has no desire to really get himself into the positions. It would appear from the way he carries himself on the pitch as well as off it (twitter, instagram etc) that he has very little interest in his profession, one that pays him very handsomely and that all that come to watch him and his teammates would do for a fraction of what he gets. This is what I find most infuriating.
Sordell is yet another example of a footballer who had his head turned as soon as he signed a big contract. You can see from his websites he is not the sharpest tool in the box. He is obviously seeing out his lucrative 20k a week deal with Bolton and hoping to get a massive signing on fee from a Bosman next. The honourable thing to do would be to admit he lacks the dedication and hunger to be a pro footballer, before he nicks a living off another Club.
It rankles that we are stuck with him on the wage bill. Surely we're not stuck with him until the end of the season? Surely there's a way out? Mind you I feel that he has been a distraction from the poor form of our front two. Sordell has only been playing the odd 10 minutes here and there, whereas Church and Kermit are starting nearly every game, but are not causing defenders any problems.
Its mind boggling, i dont get it. If you had ability wouldnt you naturally want to use it ? Imagine when he is 50 and he cant get out of a walk, he will regret wasting his skills.
"... he may fall into the category of players Freedman could look to sell on ..." Who on earth would spend a penny on buying him? If he cannot get a look in with our hopeless attack, who else would want him? His best chance is to try and make a fresh start in US soccer.
“And it’s a huge plus for us that he doesn’t play because he genuinely has got goals in him.”
Yeah well, if ever there was a loan player who was going to roll up his sleeves and sweat blood and tears to save Charlton, Sod-all was NOT that man. I seriously doubt we're paying all of his wages as often these loans include the parent club paying part of a wage that the other club could'nt manage, but whatever, it has'nt worked out and we don't need that sort of player here. Give him a run out with the Gills.
