I agree with you, he should be fined and punished. I'm astonished that you have got into a scrap ... tst tst should have known better <whistle> and hey, he might have apologized too (doubt it though)

Has anyone ever been charged by the FA and subsequently found not guilty?

Yes, I am guilty as charged you honor. Guilty of personally attacking the invisible, un-named person. Brilliant.

Wow, I don't think I've seen FLT as fired up as this before. Way to go PTF. <laugh>

People who live in Northampton are unbearable oafs.

I haven't named anyone, so would you argue that that's not a personal comment? Of course not.

Yet we still don't know what he did and if he was provoked.

He has been charged with violent conduct by the FA. I think what I said, that he was sat in the dugout and struck a member of the opposing coaching staff, is pretty safe to assume.

Whatever your semantic quarrel with the phrase "personal attack", I think we can all agree it's more effective to rebut and argument by attacking the argument itself, not the people making it.

We can assume he was provoked...he wouldn't just have leapt up and hit/kicked/headbutted someone for nothing. However, whether we would regard it as sufficient provocation is another matter.

If he's proven guilty then I reckon the best thing could be to exclude him for a while until he is remorseful and is ready to lead by example in showing that that type of behaviour isn't acceptable. Just docking wages or completing some sort of arbitrary punishment probably wouldn't be effective in helping to mould the sort of Saints player we want.

Can't see us excluding him more than the punishment meted out by FA. That would leave us down to only two main strikers.

Even if he's still swaggering around saying he was right to do it?

Could have been the Newcastle coach was stood right in his face moaning. So Osvaldo in the heat of the moment kicked him etc.

We see stuff on the pitch that should be classed as violent conduct yet the player involved isn't punished.

The way some people are carrying on makes it seem Osvaldo went crazy and beat a guy to pulp. What I am trying to say is a lot of things can be deemed violent but all differ.

Until we know what he did a few people need to carm down. As others have said it could simply be heat of the moment stuff.

I think excluding him is overkill. A slap on the wrist, a warning or maybe a small fine as well as the FA punishment, and that would be enough for me.

Haven't really seen anyone overreact. Just say that he should have known better, which he should. All will be forgiven if he starts scoring goals.

I don't think it's likely he'll be excluded on disciplinary grounds for any longer than required, but he should certainly be fined by the club and made to understand that he has let his teammates and the fans down.

Nobody has said anything like this. But striking a member of the opposing coaching staff is indefensible. You shouldn't have to cause them grievous injury for it to merit punishment.

    Excluding him isn't overreacting?

Sell him. Nothing else will do.

I am joking by the way, just in case.
