I get shouted down for suggesting we should have kept Bale, fuk him if its against his will. Note to players, don't sign ****in contracts with no release clause. If you don't and your boyhood ****fest come in for you....and you're not near the end of your contract....with no release clause....see you tomorrow for training as usual!

Luke, avb's demise is as much for offield antics, all the time given in the world is not going to change his character. The footy can be fixed, we're not worried about that, its his man-management.

  2. Many of us on this board saw AVB as a clown right from the start. Sure, he papered over the cracks with Bale, but since Bale left, all we've seen is a manager with a very poor grasp of basic tactical awareness, and someone who appears completely unable to motivate his players.

Sorry, but he had to go. As hard as the ensuing months will be for us, I am convinced that the right decision was finally made, and we can move on from this.

    Agreed.

I would have given AVB a few more games at least, but this season AVB just hasn't been the right man for the job. A bunch of young players would have benefitted from, well, Harry, encouraging them to express themselves. It is true AVB has a right to feel badly treated. The combination of sacking someone who's been loyal and provided a lot of good memories does make me sad, which puts me on something of the same page with the OP.

    My favourite bits...

"with an ambitious young coach driving the club towards new, unprecedented heights" - 5th?

"We have a strong, deep squad that is ready to fight for not only the top four, but maybe even the title."
    ...................................................VS
"Naughton limped off injured at half-time. Another player forced out of position." "So we've established now that AVB had nowhere near his ideal selection available to him and hasn't for a considerable amount of time"

"AVB was widely courted in the summer by PSG and Madrid and let's be honest, he could have gone to either should he have wanted too" - Yeh course he was. <ok>

"Fans who I'm not literally embarrassed to be associated with" - I guess by this he means he is figuratively embarrassed?

"Well done Spurs fans for essentially forcing out the best manager we've ever had in my lifetime from the club I love. Congratulations on the hostile atmosphere and your pathetic tweets (much love twitter brigade). You're a joke, the lot of you and not a funny one either - a total disgrace." - Much like this rant then.

He does raise one rather deep philosophical question though to his credit.... is a joke, that isn't a joke still a joke? <yikes>

spurs main problem is daniel levy, and will continue to be. it is time he kissed and made up with in form 'arry, arguably your best manager in years. now if i can see this from afar as a shrewsbury town fan, levy needs putting on the spot and some awkward questions asked. i have a soft spot for spurs and i for one am fed up with seeing a catalogue of management casualties. getting rid of 'arry was crass stupidity by levy the chopper!

Floreat Salopia and forgive the intrusion!

The club seems to be constant anarchy , from top to bottom.
Run by a chairman with a self destruct button.
What I find amazing and shows what a mess we are in ,
Spurs sign around 115 million of talent , but take last nights game only
about 15 million was playing. 3 record buys for various reasons were not
playing. That sounds like madness, considering many of the first 11 are very average.
What other club with a net spend can afford to waste 100 million , not play and
    bed them in .
Sherwoods high tempo was welcomed , but his discarding of any creativity in the centre
    spells disaster .

All i can think of is Sherwood is holding the likes of Lamela and Eriksen etc back for sunday, to say to the fans "i'll play the new signings in premier league games, just like you've wanted", in order to earn some brownie points with us, to help him get the job permanently.

As long he doesn't play them in a 442 it might just work. For the brownie points, not the permanent job.

Adebayor being straight back in the team didn't look a good sign to me. Smacks too much of Sherwood running scared of his senior players.

Sorry but we should have been awesome last night too...for ****s sake even 'awe' should be enough with the status's of the two teams on display last night.

But no amount of money can buy a strong will.

Does anyone really think Sherwood is going to get the job permanently? He has no management experience whatsoever, his coaching "career" had him working with Harry's team (hardly a tactical tour de force) and with AVB's (Zzzz.) Okay, he is one of us (kinda) but the old Spurs players hanging around the place seem to be there to placate us more than having an actual positive effect on what is going on. Les Ferdinand as a striking coach for instance: Is that working? Has it ever? The fact that all of them are associated with a period when we actually achieved Jack **** as a club makes me wonder what they bring to the party.

Do they show the young players what it means to play for our great club? On the performances of this season and the ones from last, (when Bale rescued our sorry arses more times than I care to remember,) the answer is a resounding no. When the going gets really tough, the majority of players with a Spurs shirt on go missing.

If we are going to have a fresh start, let's get some winners around the place. Players and coaches who know what it takes to win major competitions. If we sign promising kids, (which we do) THAT is what they need to make sure they develop as players and men. Not being surrounded by mediocrity.

Its a lot of pressure to put on two 21yr olds to get it right in this game, away to a very good Soton. One has hardly any minutes and the other is just back from injury. That decision could turn out to be brave or stupid! Imo its not a must win, its a don't lose.

My cousin told me last night Lamela supposedly wasn't going to play, Brian Lamela replied to a tweet when someone when asked if Lamela was going to start and said something like "No but he will on weekend". So looks like he may have been telling the truth.

For me lets stop the rot, one thing at a time, sort the defence out, its a sieve atm, lets get Capoue in his rightful position, imo we need to shore things up first in defence and MF, 0-0 would be a fantastic result in the circumstances.

again, 442 was sherwood's knowledge of the fans demanding it, IMO. - Ade and Defoe has always been a crap partnership. Sherwood pleasing the fans, nothing more.

same goes for playing ADE playing in general. - just trying to please everyone and show that he's open to change, suggestions and giving people another chance. - not like his predecessor.

It is a lot of pressure, you're right. But when we consider injuries, suspensions and who played on thursday, combined with the fact that sherwood wanting to keep players and fans onside, he'll play both of them i reckon.

There's a story in the papers (which could be bullshit) that AVB didn't choose/particularly want 4 players we signed - Eriksen, Chiriches, Chadli and one other. - i can't remember who it is. Sherwood is bound to have seen this (or know about it, if it's true) IMO, and therefore we'll see those (who are available) on Sunday i reckon.

I don't think we're going to see any drastic changes in terms of performance until a new manager is hired and the players are "proving themselves" in that honeymoon period which always occurs when anew boss comes in. However, I am confident that certain players who everyone is saying "what a waste of money" about, will soon shut people up.

i don't usually agree with Alan smith, but for once i did when I heard an interview with him where he said that the talent is there. He echoed comments I've made about soldado being proven for a number of seasons and played for spain on a number of ocassions (arguably the best squad in the world, and very difficult to get into unless you're genuine quality). He also said that Lamela is a top talent and that Eriksen has been a regular CL player prior to signing for us who's very experienced for his age. These players don't just turn ****. - let's see how they do when their not restricted in the way they have to play and can just play football that suits them as individuals.

Southampton is the sort of game that Lamela and Eriksen could shine in. Saints are an excellent footballing side, which'll play into CEand EL's hands, IMO. I actually have every confidence in them to do a good job for us on sunday, if they play that is <ok>

I've always thought 442 only suited a certain style of player whereas 4231 is more flexible. Harry could pick Lennon Modric Sandro Bale VdV and Ade and it worked well because the 2 CMs could hack it on their own and VdV was hard to handle. If you change that to Demble, Sig and Defoe you are asking to be overrun in midfield. Similarly I don't think Eriksen and Lamela can play on the wing or CM in a 442 because they don't have much defensive capability. But they are fine in the attacking 3 of a 4231
