Bit concerned we will let our foot off the gas. Having destroyed Tottenham and one eye on the two big games coming.
We'll park the bus and hope to score from a set piece if Witts can get his delivery right. It swings between world class and 'for ****s sake let some one else have a go its one of those days.' We won't leave a handy 15yrds of space behind our back 4 all game like Spurs but you'll still almost certainly be too good for us. We've had all sorts of chairman manager **** all season so i really don't expect that to be a factor or an excuse.
If you sit deep Suarez and Coutinho can do their stuff. If you push up Suarez and Henderson will get in behind. Park the bus and we'll poke and poke until we make a break through but if we don't score by the fifty minute mark we start to get nervous and run out of ideas.
I think that's one of the things you guys need to prove to be title challengers this season. That ability to have faith in your game and keep going until the 90th minute winner comes. You've definitely been guilty of giving 'smaller' sides encouragement in the past when the goals haven't flowed freely. I rate Rogers very highly though and was glad he got a chance to prove what he's capable of at a club your size. I think he's turning you into the ruthless side you need to be. The Hull game was a shocker but other than that you've despatched the likes of us the way you should and sadly for us I don't see Saturday being any different. There's a balance to be struck between sitting too deep and leaving too much space. spurs were ridiculous and you should have scored 8. How it took until the 90th minute to play Sterling into that gaping space was almost unbelievable. We've started the season with a couple of very organised backs to wall performances, we can certainly do it as well as Hull. Suarez was terrible against Hull though, I doubt we'll be that lucky and we certainly won't score 3 goals either!
The way cardiff can win this game is to pick players to do a certain job. that job is not to hassle skertl par se but to hassle lucas and allen in particular and press hard. some sides literally stop and wait when skertl gets it believing they are going to then press the next man. Thats not right, the forward needs to be chasing in on skertl ans sahko to speed that pass but the midfield should push up. Yeah there'll be some space but if thier CBs and holding player can't cope with that then they'll lose anyway. If we are given space and time to play we'll take 60% possession and "usually" that will translate into a chance for suarez.
this is the approach I'd take. Last time we played Stoke, Pulis was a pundit and he said that he'd got his team to isolate Skrtel because they believed he was the worst on the ball for us. The closed every other player and let Skrtel have it. IMO, that is the wrong way around. They should be looking to pick up the options (mark the other players) and put Skrtel under pressure, if he's the worst on the ball then he is the most likely to **** up, why not pressure him into making more mistakes? I also agree that teams should be looking to get at our two midfielders whether it be Allen and Lucas or if Gerrard or Henderson is on there. As good as Suarez and Coutinho are, are team and style is built around the central pairing.
Yeah but Suarez will make a chance for himself anyway! And if there mid push up it just gives him more space and so he's more likely to score! I would gear the whole team up to stop Suarez with 2 marking him at all times and hope that the rest of the team don't take their chances.
I really wouldn't want Suarez v Turner, one on one. We need numbers around him as he will beat the first man. We don't have the recovery pace to play a high pressing game, so whilst it may be the best solution for other sides (Southampton) it certainly wouldn't be for us. Your back 4 will get plenty of the ball. Our success or lack of it will probably depend on how deep we have to play to restrict the space between the lines. If we can press nearer the halfway line than the 18yrd box we might not get battered.
hopefully he will get game time soon, not 100% sure why he hasnt played yet, training, fitness, attitude, injury?
You could put four on him and he'll beat them if it's going well for him. There are the odd games when a few of his tricks don't come off at first and he seems to lose confidence a little. It doesn't happen often though, and after he's megged a few he becomes unstoppable. If we score early I think you've had it, the longer it goes on the more chance you've got. Our defence is always good for an oggie as well.
Of course, if they put more than one man on Suarez, it creates space for Coutinho and Henderson too. Fixed
Of course, that's why he was such an important player for us even when he was struggling to score, because he made space for others. The only way to play him is for the defence to be tight and organised and, most importantly, work really hard for each other the whole game. Something Spuds failed miserably at.
Breaking news. Cardiff owner has told Mackay to resign or be sacked. On BBC sport right now. How will thus effect our game?
