But you would have also had Spurs and Chelsea in the semis on paper.

Has everybody seen the news item of the woman who she'd won 40,000 Canadian dollars [CDN$]..? She was obvioously chuffed but it turned out she'd won CDN$40,000,000. [nearly GB£28M] She didn't quite know what to do with herself so she sang and danced badly. Frankly, when you've won that amount of money, I think you're probably entitled to do what you want, at least once, in front of the cameras:

I was going to say I think most people would react similarly, but then I realised I don't even know if I'd want to win the lottery or not. And I just remembered there was a similar discussion in here the other day, but I'd already typed the first bit and I was bored enough to continue.

You do hear about lottery winners who end up leading unhappy lives, but my theory is that those people are just stupid. You need a solid financial plan.

Thing is, I am quite stupid. I've never really had any kind of money so I don't know how I'd be able to manage it without being stupid. Suppose I'd have enough money to hire a good accountant or financial advisor or somebody to stop me from being stupid, but I dunno, I think there'd be a lot of stress and hassle involved for more money than I'd ever be able to spend.

You would be able to spend it; that's why so many **** it up. Just don't spend it all. Live a modest life and do the same things you enjoy now, while never having to worry about whether you can afford the rent or whatever.

That's the ideal, I mean, that's what I'm aiming for in terms of eventual career status in the future, enough to not worry about how I'm going to finance my house, food etc while still enjoying minor luxuries like being able to go out to dinner when I want to. I can just imagine that being given such ridiculous amounts would make it so hard to not do something stupid.

How much would it cost to build on one of those? I don't know how planning permission applies on places like that, if it's just the cost of building then you could Richard Branson it up. That'd be pretty awesome.

EDIT: I see a lot of them already have buildings on. I guess if you did win a massive amount then spending half on one of those places would be one of the coolest ways to waste money.

I think the best way to combat post lottery depression would be to give a large chunk of it away

Not a bad shout but I'd like to actually see the effects of it. Like if I'm going to donate it to some poor African country then I want to be there to see it spent on facilities and whatnot. Don't want to risk it lining some corrupt bastard's pockets. I'd go visit poor places and personally buy people things.

That's the problem with most charities these days, normally not a whole lot of it goes to actual good. Is there no way to seek out like, medical research centres and donate straight to them without using a charity middle man? Cause that'd be a pretty great thing to donate to.

If I did that in person I imagine they'd try and eat me. :(

Probably, yeah. If I was going to make a huge charitable donation I'd seek advice from a lot of people first before I made any decision. I wouldn't know how to make sure it goes to the right places myself.

I'd like it to be a Sunderland v Shammers final. Give them both something to take their eyes of the main aim and hopefully both go down.... pleeeeeease?

I'd buy Cobblers, install my mate as coach (he is qualified) and play Football Manager Real Life. Then we'd see if I knew what I was on about! Oh and the TV companies could film it for some income and I could then claim partial sound financial investment.

Oh and yes, I'd employ a fitness person to work a miracle and I would be that sad 40 something year old chairman who comes on for 10 minutes of a game
