His grammar is faultless for a start. I'm not saying he's world-class but I don't see what is so great about Cleverley to suggest there is such a big difference. Barton passes the ball well, scores a few, has a good engine and motivates others when his head is screwed on. What are Cleverley's strengths?

You really rate Barton? People only talk about him because hes a **** on the pitch and loves to open his mouth to the media, might benefit a team trying to fight relegation i guess but other than that nothing special at all.
French league may be not among top4 or top5 (england, Germany, Italy, Spain and possibly Portugal) but sure is not a poor league otherwise why it is main league which the PL clubs are buying from?
sure if we counted artificially inflated PSG and Monaco .. but over the years, I think Portugal's clubs did slightly better tbh
Obviously it's a lower level but he's carried our midfield all season. He's far from perfect, but purely on football ability ignoring everything else, which no one does or should in reality, he's good enough for plenty of Prem teams in my opinion.
