The media darlings and pundits will only be discussing an all Manchester final lads for the next 5 or 6 weeks.

West Ham and ourselves are merely making up the numbers and thats fine by me. Expectation is nil and thats a bonus for us and a huge pressure on Utd. I think Chelsea are a far better team than Utd and will they risk their top players? Will RVP be fit to play for them? Can we bring in a new striker (from abroad) who isn't cup tied and can play in both games to give us an edge?

Going to be exciting and frustrating listening to the crescendo of noise for a City/Utd final. Its up to Gus and the lads to change that one and we will play our part by filling the stadium with 40,000+ home fans.

Not to put a dampener on thing guys, but can we really afford to be in Europe next Season ?
Of course I would love to be winning Trophies and competing at the highest levels but I just don't feel we are equipped to do so right now.
We have another rebuilding exercise, yet again, next summer.
Shoot me down at will, just think about it.

Don't think we can pick and choose when/if we ever make a European competition again, besides imagine how much of a better standard of player we might attract if we can offer European football at the SOL?

Always a daft thing to flippantly write a team off. Sort of thing that bites people in the arse. The more they do it the more I fancy our chances. I welcome it because you know Gus will keep the lads heads in the right place.

If you're prepared to carry the burden of the extra games, the reduced recovery time between them and the greater risk of injuries which is always a factor it could become a struggle for a small squad such as ours (Swansea) but for most of us it's been worth it ,winning the cup then away trips to Valencia etc is what it's all about.(+ theres always the extra TV revenue and add ons to consider)

We might have drawn WHU and lost to them !, you know SAFC by now, then again we and WHU could get to the final a lot of things can happen next month, like we get 4 quality players in, just our luck we could not get to last season's semis, Bradford and Villa. In 1985 we beat Spurs and Chelsea then get beat of Norwich in the final !. We should have lost in the 2nd round that night so there must be an omen that we will win the league cup this season, remember Liverpool in the F A cup in 1992, losing till late on in nearly every round then going on to win the cup at our expense.

In honestly yes. I think we could afford to. Now every tier of our squad's are playing the same philosophy it would be the perfect competition to play a blend of experience and youth to give these lads more game time. Extra games like these can only help their develop if a coach is prepared to use them.

Think we're way head of ourselves here though. Let deal with Man U first eh?

There once was an all conquering team called Leeds.......
    And the rest is history.
    Europe? Use the development squad.

That's because they quickly forgot we've beaten 2 teams this season that are better than Man Utd!

I think it's a foregone conclusion that City will be in the final, I can't see West Ham getting past them over two legs no matter how I look at it. Pellegrini is taking the competition very seriously and that's commendable, I think the tie will be over after the first leg.

As for our tie, anything could happen and it's wide open as far as I'm concerned. Moyes won't pick our strongest 11 in either game, it's part of the fabric of this club to help give fringe players some confidence and youngsters some game time (in the earlier stages). Van Persie isn't due back until around the 10th of January so I doubt he'll be part of either game.

There's always one with the snide comment isn't there?. One thing for sure, we have a better chance of filing a stadium in a semi final this season than the mags.
