Scott Parker is sitting tight and waiting for the chance to join Spurs, despite West Ham receiving a transfer bid from overseas.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp had an offer for the England midfielder rebuffed last summer, but the player has now been told he can leave Upton Park following the Hammers' relegation.
Scott Parker is keen to join Spurs (PA) Scott Parker is keen to join Spurs (PA)

It was thought Redknapp would jump at the chance to sign the Footballer of the Year, but he has not made a move yet.

According to the Sunday Mirror, the only bid West Ham have received since the end of the season was from Fenerbahce.

Parker rejected the chance to speak to the Turkish champions, as he is not interested in moving abroad.

The 30-year-old's preference is to stay in London and join Spurs, but it remains to be seen whether the White Hart Lane board is prepared to match West Ham's £8 million valuation.

Redknapp has been credited with an interest in Real Madrid's Lassana Diarra and Everton's Jack Rodwell in recent days and Tottenham's moneymen may decide it is better to go for a younger option than spend a chunk of the transfer budget on a player with no resale value.

I think that we're probably trying to shift some of our own players before making any moves like this.
If the O'Hara or Palacios deals go through soon, then I'd expect a bid for another midfielder.

Paker for 7 million would be good. 10m sounds a bit too high for a 30 year old but it depends how despeately Harry thinks we need him. He is a very good defensive midfielder though and would be excellent back up for Sandro. I just hope that Harry does not buy Parker and put him in the team ahead of Sandro as he sometimes does with his favourite players.

Spam and Parker are having a laugh at 8m, there is absolutely no re-sale value in him at all he's 31, he's also on 70k a week. So 8m + wages...not good for a player we only see as back up.

    Dream on Parker.

I just dont see the need for Parker at all. A central midfielder is the last thing Spurs need...
This buying players because they're decent and 'available' frustrates me... it's all a bit FM for my liking.

Harry should be concentrating his efforts (and finances) on what we do need, which is a striker - if Pav is to remain unfavourable (in his opinion, for whatever reason).

Bit of competition for Lennon wouldn't go amiss either - if he is to stay.

Parker has had a good couple of seasons at West ham, but is that only when contrasted with the bunch of losers he was playing with? Is he going to replace Hudd, Sandro or Modric in midfield? Well no, almost definitely not barring injury. He is just about 31 so is really looking for one last hoorah for what, lets face it, considering the clubs he has been at, has been a fairly average career. Is he going to get that warming the bench for us? I would think he would be better off going somewhere he could make a real difference, QPR for instance, where his experience and industry would give the newbies a lift and balance the excesses of Tarabt.

wouldn't mind Levy playing brinkmanship with this one. A last day transfer perhaps to get him at rock bottom. The more we screw over W.H.O. the better.

I think we've moved on now, there are few issues in central midfield now so adding Parker would be a luxury, one not worth a great deal of expense. If we're going to get him I agree with Humptey try on the last few days. I'd prefer Diarra to come to the club though if we're strengthening our midfield, he's top class, versatile and has his best years ahead of him. Harry has coached him before too and he's got prem experience so no bedding in time necessary.

Diarra would break our wage structure and demand a place in the first XI.
    Parker probably wouldn't.

We need to do our business early this season, get rid of the players that we don't want or need, get in our key signings and then maybe make a late move or two for fringe players or prospects, if we can pick up bargains.

Didn't think Diarra was on all that much at Madrid but Harry seems to state otherwise I see. We really should trim our squad some, the size of it is crazy. From sales we could easily free up somewhere in the region of 200-300 k per week just be getting rid of fringe players. Problem is we really do have some dead wood which is hard to shift :undecided:

Getting sick of all these loan deals, Levy seems to be somewhat delusional at the prices we should be getting for some of them. E.g. 12 million for Palacios, we signed him when he was a hot prospect, now his limitations have been shown and he's out of form does he really expect an even return?!

My problem with Diarra would be more about displacing either Sandro (more likely) or Modric.
I think that they should start the season as our first choice midfield pairing and we'd have to offer Diarra one of those places to get him to sign.
He'd get stroppy if he was dropped, too.

You're definitely right about the need to move players on, though.
I can honestly see us making a lot of sales in this window.
Gomes, Hutton, Bentley, Jenas, Keane, Palacios, Crouch, Dos Santos, Defoe, Bassong, Kranjcar, O'Hara, Alnwick and Woodgate are all possibles, at least.
That's basically a team and could be disruptive, if it isn't handled correctly.

I think if we lost the fringe players it'd be welcome competition but I see your point about demanding the first team spot. The clearout needs to happen first and thats really whats holding us back. There is no doubt in my mind we need to lose the below:

    Hutton
    Jenas
    Bentley
    O'Hara
    Dos Santos
    Keane

With woodgate going too that is 7 players off our books so we should have some money to spend least wages wise (keeping within structure) on just 1 or 2 quality additions. I feel we may lose Kranjcar and possibly Pav too but I can't help feel we'd miss them unless we had a top quality replacement lined up.

I would rather see us give livermore a go than breaking the bank for diarra. Concentrate on selling this window and bring in a couple to top strikers also. Thanks

Has Livermore done enough to put himself in the frame?

I've seen him a few times now and although there was early promise there, I can't see him making the transition to first team anytime soon.

Hopefully I'll be proven wrong, as we have a lot of talent lower down the ranks, bit as a bit-part player he won't really give us that little bit extra needed to step up to the next level.

Are you DDDDD (etc.) from 606, Darren?

Agreed about Kranjcar and Pav, but I think that the Russian finally proved his worth to Redknapp towards the end of the season, whilst the Croatian fell out with him and will sadly be moving on.
I'm really not sure that Pienaar is an improvement over him, regardless of his injury problems and struggle to settle and I'd prefer to see us bring in someone like Marin from Bremen to bolster the left wing and provide back-up for van der Vaart.

Nah, I'm a new member to the mix, I only ever posted about twice on 606 I think. Mainly went there just to see what the popular opinion was about my club.
