If I won that much I would re-name the club the Kingston Growlers.

    There are options.

You can take a 20 year payout. That is without interest. 640/20 = 32 million a year for 20 years.
You can take a single lump payout. That is roughly 400 million. That allows you to invest the money for that 20 years.

There are taxes which is 39.5% of lottery winnings. So it is really

    20 year payout = 21.36 million a year / 13.13 million pounds a year
Single lump sum = 242 million / 148.79 million pounds

They say that with that much money that it is fairly easy to invest the lump sum and have more money at the end of that 20 year period than if you had taken the 20 year payouts.

I think I would try and get an investment group together and buy the club rather than purchase 100% of it myself. Most US teams are really owned by a collection of people and the "owner" simply owns the largest share of the club.

They are saying on TV that if no one wins it this week that they expect the jackpot to reach 1 billion dollars next week. So if I dont win this week I will simply win the billion dollars.

Who said they will wait until April to decide?

I thought that was the deadline to apply for a name change.

So nationally reported news isn't part of the "real world"?

Come on, admit it: you don't know what's going on.

Below is an E mail I got from the FA, in reply to my mail stating that they should reject the name change.

    Dear John

Thank you for contacting The Football Association.

The FA can confirm that it has received a request from Hull City to change its playing name to Hull Tigers from season 2014/15. Requests to change a playing name of a Club are considered under FA Rule A3 (l) and require the prior written permission of the FA Council. As part of the evaluation of the request a consultation process will be undertaken with various stakeholders including supporter groups. At the present moment The FA is not able to provide a timescale for the completion of the consultation process and does not expect to make any further comment until the assessment of the request has been completed.

We appreciate you taking the time to contact us with your thoughts and please rest assured that they have been noted.

    Kind regards

Yes you are right, I think the important bit is the last line, "your thoughts have been noted".If a lot of us do it, surely must have an affect.

Actually, I think they probably think for ****s sake more of these and latch off a load of pre written replies. I think they will just look to CTWD to provide the report on supporters opinion. In fact I doubt anyone at the FA reads any of these emails instead of just check all - reply to all - delete all.

More likely they toss the emails into seperate folders and use the counter on the folder title to note how many of each view there are. I worked for a group that used to get thousands of emails about different issues and that is what we did. You only looked at the email long enough to know which view people had. Most places have a few people whose job it is to open mail, take phone calls, and read emails so it isnt like they have to hire extra people. It just pisses them off when they get bombarded by things like this.
