Did you watch the game against Chelsea last night? This comment smacks of someone who hasn't watched him at all. He's been great for Sunderland. The difference between him and JDG is that JDG has been played in his preferred position and is still crap whereas Laudrup for some daft reason kept playing Ki out of position.
It's funny how history gets rewritten as flavours of the month change and all the sheep flock to jump upon the latest bandwagon. Have watched him in a number of games for them including last night and he's rarely been more than mediocre in all of them. As he was mediocre every time he's pulled a shirt on for us. Last season forums such as this were full of people queuing up to point out the flaws in Ki's game. Laudrup continually picked De Guzman ahead of him for one simple reason; he is a vastly superior footballer. Laudrup bombed him out on loan to Sunderland for another simple reason; he's not good enough to get in our side.

Most of us "sheep" were pretty pissed off that Ki went in the first place. He is a strange one though. As I stated, always played out of position by Laudrup and not given a chance in his preferred role. Regardless of what Lone says he is doing well at the Mackems - if he wasn't Mourinho wouldn't have mentioned the fact that they had to try and stifle his creativity to get a result. But our current most popular pantomine villain JDG did score quite a few goals for us last season and has shown ability from dead ball situations. Maybe that's why Laudrup prefers him. Neither Ki nor JDG put a foot in and win you the ball, though in fairness JDG has shown more of that side to his game recently. I like Ki but get the feeling it was wrong club wrong time for him here.
Just because he scores one goal doesn't make him better than midfielders we have here already. I wrote on the other thread: Ki's not good enough to make Sunderland's first team (he was a substitute). If he can't get a starting place in a team at the bottom of the league why should he be considered good enough for a top ten team? Fabio Borini also scored from the bench. Should he come back too? We need to look for better players.
Most of you kept very quiet about it at the time. There are a lot of flaws in De Guzman's game. That much is obvious. There are a lot of people waiting to pounce on and whinge about any percieved failing even when he plays well (as he did at Norwich) because they decided long ago that they didn't like him. That much is also obvious. These people are now championing Ki as the missing link for us this season when "missing" is probably the adjective that best describes his contribution in a Swansea shirt so far.
I was one of a few that has been criticising JDG for the past 12 months. Also disagreed with Ki going as soon as the rumours started surfacing.
The fact that by your own admission you've been criticising De Guzman for twelve months when he's been our most creative central midfielder for most of it tells us everything we need to know.
