U19R Believe it or not that was'nt a dig at you. Of course Sir Matt will always be remembered as united's manager, but he was our captain and nothing can change that,he was from an era that had no LFC and MUFC dislike or hate etc. And thats the way he should be remembered. SAF on the other hand threw petrol on the already burning dislike between the clubs when he arrived at OT. But thats life.
I also believe Shanks was fond of a certain Dennis Law. Even tried to sign him and even though he came to United they remained very close friends. A very different time back then wasnt it guys?
As much as you hate fergie what hes done has worked wonders. While the clubs were best buds in the past United were not doing much. Fergie injected a fire that still burns today. Was he wrong to do so? No. He set his sights on the best team in the land and set about going after them. If anything its a complement to Liverpool. Fergie wasnt interested in the rest, he went after the best as he knew, you dont become the best til you beat the best. I will stop saying best now. its for the best.
who were the last two players to be involved in a direct transfers between the clubs. utd to us? & us to utd?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Chisnall 1964 and the last time a player moved from one to the other.
UIR. He was fond of Dennis Law. There was a reason for that.Shanks gave a 16 year old Dennis Law his league debut for Huddersfield town. He wanted to bring him to Liverpool in 1961.He joined Man City.Everton made a bid of I think it was £50,000 two years previous.Shanks told his bosses that Law was worth twice that.He joined Man City for £99,999 in 1961.
Liverpool and Utd dont do any direct business between eachother now and have only done so twice in the last 73yrs
Liverpool to Man United. I don't think one has happened since the 193Os. Ince played for Inter Milan before joining us.
