I'm not getting carried away with yesterdays performance. As much as I enjoyed it and want the success to continue I perfectly understand that it worked against one particularly weak defence. Let's now see it blossom further in the games to come.

Is our revamped midfield strong enough to take on both Chelsea and City away? I haven't got a clue. However, I believe that the task will be made easier if they can pull out a performance in the home match. If we take on the last 2 matches with 6 points under our belts there is more likelihood of our Mids having the confidence to keep pressing the more vaunted Mids of both Chelsea and City. Unsettle them rather than waiting for them to create in front of you.

i find it interesting how much rodgers is taking lucas off frankly... in the long run will it get lucas back to where he was or is it a case of admitting thats not going to happen? I don't know.

Think this is more a case of him protecting him! He's our only dedicated DM and our form has dropped when he's out simply because others have struggled to fill his role.

If we weren't scoring for fun, if Aguero wasn't injured, if Chavski weren't looking as wobbly as they are then this would be unrealistic. But I think we're just happening to hit the right time for playing both of them.

Chelsea have leaked badly away to Stoke and Sunderland and struggled at times at home to Palace. Any other season, the Chavs would have blown them all away.

Citeh are carrying a big goal threat, but what better time to play them than when their best forward is out of action. We're not exactly goal shy so we could nick a high scoring draw - what is unrealistic about that eh Tobes?

    Love the optimism mate.

Aguero being out is a massive loss for them, but they're not exactly short of options though. Personally, I think at home they're different class at the minute. Yes, you can get at them, same as we did & I'd have money on you scoring tbh, but they just seem to have another gear to move into when pressed at home.

As for Chelsea, unbeaten at home under Maureens entire reign, is a win there possible? Yes, I suppose. Likely given your mixed away form? Not for me.

If you get 2 points you've done well imo. 4 & everyone's talking about your title credentials. None & you're likely to have dropped to 5th or 6th. 6 & you'll never see me again <laugh>

Interesting week or 2 fella. <ok>

Who do you lot play in this festive period? Btw, have you seen Arsenals run in February and March? I put it in the Rivals thread, depending on where they are in the league, those two months will put them pretty much where they will finish, it is a pretty tough run.

    Swansea (A)
    Sunderland (H)
    S'Hampton (H)
    Stoke (A)

Yeah I saw that fixture list - ouch! A nightmare run of games that. If they come through it still up there, they'll deserve the title <ok>

Ya, if they can get through that fixture list that would be hats off to them. If they get by Bayern, that adds more complication to that too! I put what I think for results for you lot in that schedule.

I think Bayern will batter Arsenal tbh mate, they owe them one.

I'd be disappointed if we don't get 8 points from 12. Happy with 9 & very pleased with 10. Less than 8 & we'll have missed a great opportunity.

Think you will do any Biz in January btw? Anywhere you may be light? Or will you lot probably be getting rid, maybe the likes of Jelavic who fell the **** off?

EDIT: Just saw Dealofeu is out for 5 weeks. He was starting to hit some form too I believe.

Martinez has said he wants to bring in 2 or 3.

We need cover for Kone & Gibson who are both out for the season.

I could see Jelavic, Heitinga & maybe Baines all leaving.

In which case he's going to be busy, albeit we signed Alcaraz who hasn't played yet, who'll cover ****einga & we have a couple of very promising young left backs who could offer cover for Oviedo.

I just want us to get a solid midfielder, someone who can help bolster what we have for the now and long haul. Wouldn't mind a player like a Turan, Mertens ( not happening but that mold), Mata type player that can play wide, in the hole, versatile but can help add to our attack and then maybe send Moses back to Chelsea. I thought Moses would be shrewd business but he just doesn't look like he could give a **** after starting pretty well!!

I think you've got enough small, 'touch' players tbh.

I think you're crying out for a midfield powerhouse, a Yaya / Viera style all rounder.

Guarin from Inter and it is hotting up that he is BPL bound, with Chelsea and United leading the way. Would be awesome if we got him. Damiao is still out there which, depending on price, could be another nifty bit of business and would provide some serious competition with Sturridge and keep him on his toes.

Think we could use another RB/LB but at the moment we have just about enough possibly but something to address down the line. Although Baines, a true red, would fill that LB spot nicely. :)

I can't see you signing a player of Damiao's quality to sit on the bench fella.

Personally, I think that Pogba would be a great addition to both clubs midfields. I can see that lad coming back to these shores at some point.

Baines is a Blue ffs <grr> Odds on he's off to United though, as the lack of any new deal being signed speaks volumes. If they stump up in jan, he'll be off imo.

    hehehe.

Pogba may be PSG bound and if that happens, will be hard for many to afford him at that point and that rumor is getting stronger ( could be a favor as that may mean that Matuidi is up for sale and I would take him in a heartbeat!).

With regards to Damiao, I think he would play but then you couldn't have Sturridge leading the line.... or you could have both and Suarez with a free role. Actually amazed he is still in Brazil, would have thought he would have moved on by now..... can see him going to Italy though, Inter, Milan, Roma even.

I like Baines, I think he is a quality LB and looks like a throwback to what a player from the 70's would look like playing in today's game. <laugh>

I'll be gutted if he leaves mate. The best left back in Europe imo.

But he's been a great servant & he's now 29, so if they come up with £17m I can't see us turning it down, if the lad still fancies the move :(

LB are a funny breed..... really hard to find quality in that position.
