Nice romantic notion regarding Bellamy, real Roy of the Rovers stuff but it won't happen this time. VT will want his own man in, what's the name of the stadium milkman?
Where is this all leading to? Mackay resigning or being sacked? Tan back tracking and allowing the new players desperately needed to get City safe? No chance IMO of the latter. Surely it makes commercial sense for money to be shelled out to stand a better chance of recouping more PL money by staying up than letting this patently insufficient squad to play out the remaining 22 games.
I think Malky is pushing the buttons so he will be sacked, no benefit in him walking even though he can get a job elsewhere. I don't think Tan will back down on the transfer funds, if Malky remain in place, unless some players are sold beforehand. If Malky goes whoever replaces him will want his own players and surely the promise of transfer funds to buy in January. If no funds are available this will weaken Tans hand but not significantly. Plenty of managers want a shot at the premier league, would this poisoned chalice attract a high profile manager? Possibly as it is a win-win situation whoever takes over.
I don't think commercial sense will win this situation. VT is obviously furious about the transfer dealings. I don't think the couple of mill it would take to get rid of MM would stop VT if getting rid was all he wanted. What will be interesting is if someone does come in for MM will we demand the release fee? I'm sure he has one and we would be entitled should another club wish to poach our manager. I said a few weeks back that as long as it looks like we are staying in the PL MM will not be sacked, I know this unrest has fanned the flames once again but VT wants a PL club above everything else. Now I don't believe for a second we will start next season with MM in charge and if another club makes an approach and he wants to go I think both sides may be glad to call it a day. Right now it's kind of like a bad marriage which is financially comfortable and still sexually active, both think they could be in love and much happier but realise things could be a lot worse too..........
Now this report states that Malky will not be given any money to spend in January... Doesn't state there is no money available though
Im sure money will be available. I just dont think Malky will get it. This division is overrated. We should just keep the same players and be more positive. Some of the sides weve played are not much better than some of the Championship sides I saw last season. (Swansea , Stoke , Norwich , WBA ,)
I agree with that Hilts. The failure of relegated sides and relative success of those promoted adds weight to the argument. Don't think we need to spend big, we just need to do what we're doing with a bit more attacking intent.
It is easy if you don`t like Tan, go buy your own team and play in blue then you will suddenly be more careful about who is spending your money. If you cannot give 100% support when the team is finally in the premiership it is you who are not needed. Malky was a nobody given this chance with an owner who supported him fully so why all of a sudden is Malky causing problems? We would not have a football club if not for Tan we certainly will without Malky. Malky seems to play his favourites as everyone pointed out certain players are being ignored and these players cost Tan so he has every right to question the buying policy. While Malky gets all the credit where is a show of appreciation for Tan ... I for one would throw £5 into a pot to at least get the guy a small token of my appreciation. That`s too much to ask so instead let`s all moan about him. jck
Why would anyone need to buy their own team if they dont like Tan. Theres been plenty of owners I havent liked doesnt mean I cant support the team 100%. No problem with no money being available to Malky but what I dont like is this being played out in the press. It does appear as though Tan is trying to force Malky out.
No doubt VT is trying to force Malky out, he is also trying to save himself some compo by making Malky walk.
I still want to know the role Simon Lim has played in all of this. In VT's name I think he could well be using Malky to deflect attention from his own deficiencies. VT is all over the world. Lim is his his eyes and ears on the ground and responsible for the day to day management of the business including financial matters. Malky and Moody would not have been in control of the bank account and cheque book (a figure of speech as payments certainly not made by cheque anymore). That being the case who would have authorised the payments for players and been responsible for ensuring such payments adhered to budgets or whatever financial plans exist? As we don't appear to have a nominated Financial Director then Lim is in charge of the money so must have ultimate responsibility for any overspend. To my mind it's about time there were more questions about his position. Perhaps VT doesn't want to expose him to avoid losing face in the far east, or is there a family connection? Okay it's another conspiracy theory but why should Malky carry the can for everything?
Both Malky and VT are playing the political game in public. Malky will go by mutual consent very soon.
