We've had Bentaleb in the matchday squad a couple of times this season, so if he's eligible Veljkovic should be.

I thought all players were eligible for domestic cups providing they're not cup-tied?

I know Europe has a different ruling but I presume the likes of Veljkovic and Bentaleb can play.

Don't be surprised then to see Veljkovic playing this week.

Well the Academy staff know their kids.
If the back four injuries in the seniors is still dire, then if they pick those kids, so be it.

Memory reminds me of a game with West Ham for the London Charity Cup (long gone now)Final.
Both teams fielded their first teams with ours pretty pathetic at the time and with Cliff Jones returning after a broken leg.
Well,we forgot we were pathetic and beat up on the Hammers winning 3-1,winning the 1958 Cup.

Well, again, our players now know how pathetic they have been, managers fault or not,so it's time lads to turn it around!!!!!

I saw Cliff Jones at the game yesterday and he was interviewed on the pitch at half time. He looks very fit and healthy for his age.

Don't suppose we could get Dave Mackay on conference call before the game? He may be 79 and it may be over the phone, but he'd probably still give the players a biblical kick up the backside before the game.

Lord,is he 79? Wouldn't it be great to get him doing a bit of coaching at our place. Our foreigners wouldn't understand him but just show them a picture of him with Bremner,The penny might drop!!!!!?

Most of our players would be too busy using twitter or sat there with their headphones on, although Sandro could be appointed to make sure they all show some respect!

Wonder what Dave Mackay thinks of the Sandro role in general, and the Beast in particular.

One thing for sure, is the lack of leaders, I'm all for foreign players as some of the names we have had are true legends and today's squad Sandro is our most popular player but what we're missing is that British spirit to mix with the multi national side as our British players (aside from dawson) are wingers or full backs, we need some leadership through the centre as Sandro unfortunately is injury prone, can't ignore it, hes always picking up injuries be it short or long term.

The provisional squads floating around in the press seem to suggest that Rose, Kaboul and Chiriches could be back for this one.
It would make me a lot more confident if that were true, especially as Dawson would return for Southampton and Capoue could move back into his natural position and cover for Sandro's absence.

Provisional squads are usually papers guessing. Remember the BBC had Gomes in our provisional squad for Anzhi, yet he isn't in our Europa squad!

Chiriches, Rose and Kaboul were definitely training today, though:

Kaboul appearing to be aiming at the back of Kane's head, who would be another welcome return.

Rose in an ecstatic looking squad picture. Sherwood doing a bit of basic maths, which has everyone confused.

A maskless Chiriches trying out for Broadway.

Looks more like he's trying to impersonate the pic of Benny and Ade to the members of the squad who hadn't seen it (which, judging by their facial expressions, would be Holtby, Lennon and Siggy)

Well seeing as it looks as though we have a few lads back, I'll go with a team of:

    Friedel,
    Walker, Chiriches, Kaboul, Rose
    Capoue, Holtby
    Lamela, Sigurdsson, Townsend
    Defoe

A lot more optimistic now knowing we won't have a make shift defence + No AVB.

    2-0 Spurs.
