I notice this is another owner using wages + transfer fee as part of the transfer budget. Which is a load of bollocks really. And means that a 35m transfer budget is almost nothing at all in today's market. Especially if he expects Mackay to compete higher up the league
True to a point but we have got an 8mill centre forward our manager is currently describing as 'one for the future' and a 2.5m right back who looks like he might never play a significant first team game! A third of our budget on 2 players who really aren't producing. I don't share the view that Moody was as hard done by as some others. I don't think anything other than PL survival is expected of MM this season.
I tend to agree with the Jack posters on this. Yes, they're a little bit smug about it, but the fact is tha Tan is a fruitcake with little idea about what makes a football club tick. I've read on this board that he's a canny business man etc. and yes, he's certainly made a lot of money. But everything about him suggests egotistical loose cannon. I have some sympathy with him regarding the summer spending (if his side of the story is true) but I'm afraid this will quite possibly end in tears sooner rather than later. I'm a pragmatist, and I'll go and watch city while I've money in my pocket and legs to carry me, and I want Malky to succeed.... But there's a lot to be worried about. People S cynicism about WOL is not without foundation, but, well, as far as I'm concerned it looks like a duck... and it's quacking.
Wel said Glam - no gloss from you and you've got it spot on. When the painter debacle happened some here actually said 'well it's OK it's only an interim appointment'. I kid you not. "we have got an 8mill centre forward" Bloody hell that's shorter than Dyer. No wonder you can't score goals.
Let's wait a while........our owner's a bit loopy maybe......but it also could be cultural. He could see Malkys statement as trying to force him and not showing respect. They might iron it out or it will explode. We can do nothing to affect the outcome. But Tan is no business fool and if he puts us through, we will still be better off than when he started and he will drop a shed full. I shall support city regardless just as our neighbours continue to follow whatever latest form their team takes and wherever they play........even if it is a council ground.
Don't be so bloody rude on here Aussie. If you want to comment on matters concerning Cardiff on the Cardiff board, fair enough, but respect other's views. Read and understand them before you write your rubbishing guff. The "tone" I was referring to was that of WOL, not the words of the statement. Cherry picking "direct quotes" is a well known journalistic trait to suit the article's intent. The interpretation and article presentation in the media sets the "tone" of what's been said, but I can accept your reluctance to recognise it as an admitted hater of all things Cardiff City FC - it's just the norm for you. The words of the statement are factual and can't be changed, but their interpretation and the spin put on them is very much down to the reporting media.
Better delete the Jefferson Monero thread - no money, it's now obsolete. For the first time Tan has confirmed the reason why Moody went - he and Malky overspent. The signing of Cornelius for £8 million, when even Malky says he isn't ready for first team football, probably didn't help. Could we really afford to spend that money on 'one for the future' when the priority should have been to have a future in the Premiership. Caulker - good, but not a cut price bargain. Medel - good player, but defensive and not a snip at £12 million. Brayford? Odemwingie? Then look at how defensive and boring we frequently are. I can understand why Tan might not be best pleased, can't you? It might not be PC to state it, but I am of the opinion that Tan is not mad - you don't get too many mad billionaires. This is nothing to do with shirts, identity and blah blah blah ..... all our money wisely spent? I think not. Are we really surprised that Tan has put his foot down and said ... no more money for the 7th highest spenders in the Premiership.
Point taken. However, here is man who clearly thinks that the amount of money he has is proportionate to his greatness. Happy birthday sung to him, 'we love you tan' shouted at him etc. he clearly loves being the centre of attention. He also should remember that he should be adjusting to the culture of the fans, not the other way around. But I fear he's to thick skinned and, I'm sorry to say, stupid, to understand that. It's all about him. I don't know, for example, whether it's true that he puts down our promotion to having played in red or not, but we do hear those whispers. I guarantee you this: were we to get relegated, he'd forget all about how lucky red is and start blaming everybody but himself. Hey ho. It makes for an intriguing soap opera. Life's never dull if your a cardiff supporter.
are you lads still going on about media stories>>>>>>>do you ever learn? ignore the daft twats and just go and watch the city
Malky's original comments were along the lines of .... I would like to bring in three players but will need to speak to the chairman first to see what funds are available in January. Nothing controversial there; I just believe Tan is pissed of with Malky's popularity at the moment and is trying to put him in his place. Ah well it wouldn't be Cardiff if it wasn't chaos. Merry Christmas all see you in Arsenal
Another article guaranteed to spark anger and annoyance, the WOL and Echo seem to be on some kind of mission to stir up bad feeling amongst the supporters. However both sides of the story are a little devoid of any credence or substance even. Where i can see MM at fault as the manager is simply some of the absolute worthless signings he has made, all be it he may have been badly advised by the likes of Moody, however the buck must stop somewhere. Tan has said in the past that footballers are overpaid, and as the current owner of our club can probably see that millions and millions of pounds have been wasted on players that cannot even get a game for the reserves. The club obviously cannot get rid of them or ship them out due to the fact the players in question are probably on contracts that will make the financially secure for the rest of thier lives, aka, Brayson, Velikonja. Also if the reporting is correct, to say, that Cornelius is one for the future. Would have if i were the owner put me right over the edge. Undoubtedly i would have also wanted answers as to how much money was wasted on what are bit part players. Other players who should be nurtured and brought along are out on loan which is fair enough, but some of those away from the club such as young Mason is a massive mistake in my book, and will probably end up that he will move away from the club. Same with Ralls and Harris. Personally i think there is something fundamentally wrong with the management structure at the club at the moment, and this needs to be sorted out. In my humble opinion a press conference should be called where both Mr Tan and MM can put all the idle gossip to bed. The Echo and WOL have been banned from the club in the past due to their shyte stirring, therefore this doesnt mean that it cannot happen again. In short i think people are reading to much into the story, however the extraordinary waste of money that has gone on at the club, has to stop. I could have told you all that there would be no transfer budget for January, and i for one can see why that is.
