Kenny is not a mug, everyone who was around and watching football when Kenny was our manager before will know he is a superb player spotter. He knows quality when he sees it; and then he nurtures the talent to get the best out of it. Forget all these opposition supporters saying we got mugged for £20m and the like, they think they know everything about Henderson and the way Kenny thinks, but in reality they know nothing. When the owners came in, they made a statement saying they will do things "The liverpool way," from now on meaning they'll keep things behind doors and won't give anything away. So, I for one, am looking forward to seeing Henderson playing RM for us next season. I'm sure after a pre-season with Kenny he will know what's expected of him, and then finally those who first slated him will bite their tongues. After all, 2 years ago - how much stick did Lucas get? Now he's the best defensive midfielder in the league (in terms of tackling stats). Henderson is a Right midfielder, he is NOT a center midfielder. He's been played there during the second half of this season because of Sunderland's injury problems, and the England management made the same mistake tonight. He's proved he's not ready to play CM. There are a few aspects to why I think we signed Henderson: - His first touch is rather good, combined with our pass and move style he will fit right in. - He's got pace, which is what we're lacking in the team at the moment, especially since Torres left. - He can cross the ball in, perfect for Carroll in the box. Added to his pace it makes him a perfect candidate for RW. - He works tirelessly. There is a reason Kuyt is in the team every week, he earns his place in there by sheer work force. If we can get another player like him perhaps with a bit more skill then we've got a winning formula.
Who has he spotted out of interest? Dont say Shearer or Beardsley please as he didnt spot them at all.
Everyone needs to chill a little Wums are wums, they work on that elements of doubt. As you've said it's one game. He's got his whole career to go.
strange reply. sir matt busby ar great player, manager, who did he play for at the start off his career?
Carrol and Henderson are good players with potential but at £35m and £20m seem overpriced. Then again English players always seem to cost more (Lord knows why).
Did Ken spot him then? Wow, I didnt realise Ken had been around so long. Suppose you learn something new everyday. How old is he now then, must be push the big one double oh?
He played for Man City at the start of his career and joined us in 1936 and left in 1945.He also was Liverpool captain.Imagine that,Man United have a statue of a former Liverpool captain outside their ground.
UIR. You're pushing it now. I thought you stopped all that and became decent. You're welcome on these boards,as long as the posts are sensible and aren't taking cheap digs.
Trying to claim Sir Matts status as a United legend due to him playing for both City and Liverpool is all a little silly. My reply was tongue in cheek though. His time with yourselves and city are insignificant as far as I am concerned thats all.
If you know so much. Now tell us what his real first name was? Heres a clue,He used his actual middle name as his first name.
Sir Matt loved his time at Anfield and its nice that he did a fantastic job at utd and fully deserves a statue in his honour. And if any utd fan tries to wipe Sir Matts playing days from history just because of their dislike of us and city they are pathetic.
Correct and right. Alexander Matthew ''Matt'' Busby. He was of Irish and Lithuanian descent too. He also worked as a Liverpool scout during his playing days.He discovered a young kid called Billy Liddell playing for his first club called Lochgelly Voilets. He also discovered a youngster playing for Bishop Auckland called Bob Paisley, whom Matt Busby in 1939 took under his wing.Bob Paisley in 1945 replaced him in the Liverpool side.
Sure he was great, he was captain after all. Its just they are pale in significance to what he did with us. Its like Shankly. Hes known for what he did at liverpool but he was also a Preston legend I believe. They have a statue/stand in his honour dont they?
