In a way you are probably right. I still am not sure that he is building particulaly strong foundations, but if you look at the points per game and the fact that we have rarely been in the relegation places under his tenure I would concede that he is not doing a horrible job. I can't see it as better than adequet though, but may be that is enough for now. Stability is commonly a good thing and with the job he is doing he isn't exactly turning heads, so is unlikely to up sticks like PL. Look at Swansea 2 good seasons and one manager gone and the other being touted to leave after a season, we like them are a steping stone for bigger things. Even Hughton would of hoped to be courting europe with us, for a shot at the Spuds or another champions league job in the near future.
Whilst I will remain for now no fan of his, under the radar and safe will do till May. Unless we lose on Saturday, then sack the bounder!!!

    Bah!

Spot on tipsy. CH was given a 3-year contract. Whether it gets extended will depend on his convincing the board that he can take us forward from wherever we are when the time comes for contract talks. It will also depend on whether the board have identified a replacement they feel will almost certainly be better and are confident will actually come. Clearly the Saints' model is the sensible one to follow: replace when secure and have a better person lined up. Clubs which sack when in trouble are taking a big gamble. They will say "We had to do it", but that is just lost control masquerading as "decisiveness". <ok>

    The tenure of current managers:

I'd forgotten just how close together Rodgers, Lambert, Hughton, Laudrup and Bruce were appointed.

On a different note, Aguero has been ruled out for a month with a calf injury, shame it didn't happen before we played them!

Doesn't the 0:7 tonking feel less painful given that they put 6 past the PL's hitherto tightest defence (Arsenal)? I know the Gunners scored 3 themselves, but I doubt if it felt any better for that. <ok>

How long does CH have to run on his contract? I went to the Swansea game and was less than impressed with our style of play.

I believe he signed a 3 year contract in July 2012.

Good to see that you have not taken into account the fact that 4 key players are out injured and Fer in particular was being played out of position!!!

No I understand we have players out.... I just thought that the organisation of the team looks like they were playing Pacman not football.... forward back left right....left...back hoof.... back left right. Hardly any runs from players I could see why when we come up against good opposition we get tonked

This comment makes it sound as if it's a universally accepted fact that Hootun is no longer "cutting the mustard" and is doing a terrible job - despite the facts and figures saying otherwise.

    Nonsense <ok>
