For reasons best known to themselves, the League Managers Association measure it from when the appointment is announced rather than actual start date and by that reckoning Moyes has been in his role longer than Hughes and Mourinho. http://www.leaguemanagers.com/managers/longest-current.html
Laudrup has been mentioned earlier in the thread. As a manager - what has he done to warrant the Spurs job?
Won a trophy with an "unfashionable" club? Got Swansea playing a certain style of football that Spurs demand? I agree its a risk for Spurs to go for him but do they want an up and coming manager or do they go back to the future with Hoddle?
In fairness it was Martinez/Rodgers who got Swansea playing such good football, Laudrup just inherited the side.
What's that got to do with anything? Rodgers bought Graham and Graham scored 13 goals in the PL for them... Michu scored a couple more. Everyone goes on about the Michu signing, but how's he doing this season? And what's that one signing got to do with their style of play - the thing I was addressing that you called bollocks?
Erm... Graham scored goals for them if I recall. And was their top scorer by a distance before Michu arrived.
Sorry, their price doesn't (although it shows you a lot on their transfer market prowess) but it shows you that Swansea's football has improved 10 fold under Laudrup.
They were passing machines under Rodgers, and earned huge praise for it in their first season up, and it was the reason they had so many clean sheets at home. How exactly has that style changed under Laudrup?
If people can't see the difference between Swansea under Rodgers and Laudrup they're blind or haven't really watch Swansea. Under Rodgers they played with the wide players playing as wingers, under Laudrup wingers don't play wide. They play narrow like attacking midfielders. Laudrup also likes his centre backs to split really wide and bring the ball out wile full backs push on. Under Rodgers the ball was played straight into Allen and Britain. Rodgers played alot more possession football waiting for openings. Laudrup likes to play quick passing football with quicker forward passing. Just because pass the ball on the floor doesn't mean they do it in the same way.
Martinez takes all the credit for the way Swansea play. To my knowledge he put a succession plan in place where all Junior/Youth/Reserve and first team players all played the same formation and the same style of passing possession football. So if players are deemed good enough to move through the squads, every time they move up, the team is playing a familiar style and tempo. This I think is the system Barmby wanted to implement at City. It helps bring through players that suit the style of play you're trying to achieve. Swansea have played this formation in recent games: GK RWB. CB. CB. LWB CDM RM. LM RW. LW CF When the WBs attack with the midfielders they really do have supremacy in numbers as they tend only to leave the CBs defending.
I don't watch them all that often true, but if anything they have gone backwards under Laudrup, so if the point is that he HAS changed their style, then he's hardly done them any favours.
They've gone backwards under Laudrup? He's done them no favours? They won a cup and had their greatest ever season under him, and they went backwards? I want whatever the **** you are drinking.
Eh I haven't been that impressed with them this season, and apart from Michu, Laudrup was really riding on Rodgers' coattails last season.
