I'm sure I'll get spanked by some for being negative but it's going to take an astonishing turn around if we are to survive.
To reach the magic 40 (I don't think we'll need 40) mark we need the equivalent of 10 wins and a draw.
Taking into account our home games this season have been thus far horrendous it follows that in the second half of the season our away games will be horrendous so we are probably relying on our home fixtures to get the required points. Trouble is we only have 11 left and we need 10 (ish) wins.
Don't get me wrong I'm sure we will pick up some points away but it won't be many and no where near enough to compensate for the fact that we ain't going to win 10 of our next 11 home games.
Realistically I think we'll win about 5 or 6 at home from now till the seasons end. That means we are dependant on picking up wins away against all the big guns when we so far haven't achieved an away win all season, even against the minions of the league.
IMO we are up **** creak and our paddles are riddled with wood worm.

???? 40 points! The mythical total teams need to survive. I'm sure you already know that though.

Mythical for a reason ......... hence you claiming we won't need 40 points.

Indeed. 40 gives one a nice comfy feeling looking at previous seasons.
I don't think it will take 40 this year which is fortunate for us cause honestly, I don't think we have a hope in hell of reaching 40 points this season.

We survived with 39 last season, 3 points clear of 3rd bottom Wigan on 36.

This season will need fewer points to survive due to the amount of clubs involved and all the 6-pointers.

You want a tenner on it?
I can't lose. If your right I give you a tenner and the lads are in the Prem for another year. I'll gladly take that.

On what, not needing 40 points? I'd have £1000 on that, Burnley went down as 3rd bottom with 30 points a few years back. That'll be more like the figure this season.

I think we'll stay up with 34/35 tbh.

I'd happily have a tenner on us getting 40 points for a bit of fun <ok>

WHU have a tough run of home fixtures, we must have the easiest but 2 away wins might be needed but where?. I remember when WBA stopped up; they were bottom with one match left, they won other teams lost and C palace went down due to a heavy defeat, can history repeat itself.
