Ditto! Was going to come back on here and say I thought Vettel had used all his massive luck up but left it so I didn't jinx it for the chasing pack, Button drove a fantastic race and was in tears at the press conference, I'm a Flonso fan but I don't think he deserves to be punished and lose the race.
How do you know it was the McLaren team doing the booing? It sounded more like the crowd to me, why would McLaren boo? Those Canucks obviously don't like the Jerries!
Sign of a good race, it has got us talking. Seems the race gained this F1 forum a raft of new recruits
It wasn't the Mclaren team, I did laugh when I saw that comment, some F1 fans are so partisan that they imagine that rival teams would boo each other- any booing was obviously from the crowd!
lol look back at the 2010 season and even Monaco, you'll planly see McLaren trying to mock and act hostile around Vettel and Webber whenever a mistake happend. Seems McLaren is the whole reason why Lewis acts like such a ****er because he's surrounded by them with Ron Dennis as the utter cancer of the grid.
Oh yeah, definitely. I admit I'm bringing previous experience into this (e.g. his reaction after the 2009 Brazilian GP) but most drivers are buzzing after a race, especially after a race like that. Watch Button or Hamilton, even Alonso in his I'm-as-cool-as-**** persona, and they really enjoy racing, taking part. Vettel's not like that. If he gets beaten he has a face like a smacked arse. It's a good point that he was so close and it slipped away but most drivers would have assimilated that possibility long before the race ended. It's not a big deal. All of them (and us) have their faults, and if that's Vettel's then it's less of a problem than not being able to qualify brilliantly or crashing his way through a GP. It's just something I don't like about him. That and trying to pass himself off as a comedy whore and then getting Crazy Frog mixed up with Fred Flintstone. Disingenuous. It reflects the way he tries to present himself in public with the reputation he has in the garage. It doesn't affect his sheer brilliance at doing F1, I just personally don't like it. Of course, I wouldn't be quite this sensationalist about him:
While I do agree that they have always had an air of sour grapes about them in the Schumacher years and i thought the cheering at Massa at Singapore 08 distasteful and not really befitting such a professional team you need to calm thst a bit as some of it, especially the Dennis comment, is out of order.
Look its just emotion. They must of been so down with Lewis DNF and Jenson in 21st. So after that spectacular comeback they must have had so much adrenaline pumping through them that it is hardly shocking if they booed the pantomine villain of the race.
Bit worried I'm coming accross as a Mclaren spokesman but fair is fair and if they were booing Vettel (which they weren't) then I will eat my words. Great GP and great action, and nice to see the board here buzzing!
I'm done ranting in this post, so I'm backing off... Nick your correct it might not be them, I could be jumping the gun, but I'm not convinced it was the crowd because, what has provoked them to boo him? it doesn't make sense.
Just watched it again. Alonso was not heading for the apex but he was a damn sight closer to doing so than I remember. That's Alonso for you. It doesn't change my view that Button was on the inside and ahead of Alonso as they hit the braking zone. It was Button's corner. As I watch it again I wonder if Alonso might not be at risk of receiving a penalty for turning in on Button. Alonso was very quick to defend himself against having done anything wrong, rather than attacking Button for pushing him off. Then again, a penalty for a Ferrari driver from FIA stewards? Unlikely.
From what I can quickly find, Massa was penalised at this race last year for speeding in the pitlane. And thats not something that could ever have been denied. Alonso was Malaysia for the incident with Hamilton this year.
I see a lot of talk of the Button/Alonso collision. As far as I am concerned it was a racing incident. Button had the corner and even made an effort to withdraw when he saw Alonso was about to cut in. Alonso could have made the corner if he'd braked longer and steered later. Racing incident. I will not be happy about a penalty, but we must remember that it was a Ferrari that came off worst, so who knowsâ¦
