Win, win for me. We get a glamour tie that should earn us some cash. If we win, little old Swansea will really be on the European football map, plus a lot more cash. If we lose, which is likely although you never know, we can finally concentrate all our energy on the Premier League and start climbing the table.
I think that's the reality of this fixture win or lose, we can still come out on top, though that still needs us to sort out the consistency issue we have this season!...........
Another reason to be thankful for is that continuing in Europe will give us an advantage in attracting some young starlet to join us on loan in January!
I was in Naples in Oct its a great place and a scary place all wrapped up in one. We have to get a win or keep them goalless in the 1st leg
I'm not normally one to weigh in on squabbling, but you do have a tendency to nay say a little. For example, some people would have said that we could never beat the Champions League title holders over two games, but holy moly, we did! Then we went and took that cup home with us. I suppose some people wouldn't have had us beating Valencia 3-0in Valencia, but by hook or crook, we did. The perspective that we have no chance is desperately pessimistic and can be tiresome when you do it often enough to start sounding like one of that lot up the road. Just accept we might not be as **** as you're making us out to be.
Phil can you lend me your 'Top Post!' smiley - the one with the little smiley holding the placard? Cheers.
That was last season! This season we have been very inconsistent, and my post is not negative just simply realistic of our performances, and having now drawn Napoli, most honest fans will think no different, big club to pull, but the writing is on the wall, unless we can regain last years early season form!............
Awesome draw for us but lets not put Napoli on too much of a pedestal. They are no better than the top 4 in the Prem. They are in the Europa league because they couldn't finish in the top 2 in a group of 4 in the CL.
What Ivor and Pete said Nobody'll expect us to win the tie so it's a chance to make more glorious history. And if we're beaten then so be it. The home leg first is a bonus... if we can get a result, even a draw and especially a clean sheet, then it gets very exciting.
I think the Europa is largely responsible for our inconsistency. We are not an athletic team and get leggy with too many games. Also, imo we are falsely below where we should be in the league. We should be at least 4/6 points better off which would have eased the pressure on the team and had them playing with more confidence. If we bow out of Europe early, I have no doubt that reverting back to the normal fixture schedule, which would give us far more time on the training ground, will see us being fresher and much more consistent.
No European games now until late February should see you get a little bit of your old flair back and build confidence in your game. Mind you there is the FA cup coming up as well...
This is true....but keep up mun. The one that says "good post" or "top post" with the placard. I like that one.
