I think we are deluding ourselves expecting to win at Everton. It is 50 odd years since the last time.

The commitment was the crucial factor. Next week will be another game that is all about performance.

An offside! A handball! A Goalie error! Bah!!

No proper MOTD analysis, as usual!!!

Did you honestly think we'd get a result? The second half was excellent. The effort, commitment and unity is 100% better than it was at West Ham and previous games. Hard work will get results.

This is close to exactly what I was going to post.

The reason the Villa game was so important for us was that we can't really expect anything from Everton/Man City. Even a point would be a massive bonus in these games. Our run after that of Norwich/Hull/West Ham/Sunderland will define our chances of staying up.

Agree and thinking that we lost to West Ham 3-0 who were completely outplayed at home by Sunderland wants me to punch Jol on the face for what he has done!

Sorry but I don't go along with this mentality of saying we should beat this team or we'll be lucky to get a point against these teams, my be fans can think that, but I hope the manager and players don't think that. Again we let goals in the last 10 minutes of a game, may be they were unlucky, but they were avoidable. Our goal difference is now getting out of hand. History states if you start getting in the realm of negative high double figures you have no chance.

There's two things that I look at when it comes to seeing if a team can avoid relegation, the first is their home form, can they win most of their home games, and secondly is their goal difference reasonable.
We need to reverse both of these, to put pressure on the teams above us.

Well, we are fans. Of course I hope that Rene and the team think they can win any particular game, because they can (no matter how unrealistic).

However I think it's a little ridiculous to lurch back into negativity just because we lost away to a very good Everton team.

Yep, that could really hurt us. Conceding three goals to a team that can hardly score is painful and embarrassing.

The score line didn't reflect the game and as you everyone is saying it was a game we did not expect to get a result from.

Our 2nd half performance was good and with a bit of luck we could have scraped a draw. We committed too many players upfront and left ourselves exposed to that scoreline. On another day it might have worked. We are in a better position than we were before as the team is playing better. Hopefully over the Christmas period we can convert this better play into some points.

I watched Man City v Arsenal and Man City were good. Not expecting anything much next Saturday !

Thought the Everton back four were excellent yesterday and, yet, we still gave them some problems....in the second half.

The pre match interview with the mule is excellent. Have a look but in summary RM doesn't go with the ethos of 'we should take points off certain teams and not of others'. Very encouraging words.

Not at any point thought that we were trying to avoid loosing. We gave the game a good shout and we could have even won it.

Just unlucky. A foul could have been given against Lukaku and Stekelenburg could have done better.

I am sure we are going to give Man City a good game but they are on fire. The tore Arsenal apart...

They're a different team away from home though. If they play as badly as they have been we could get a point or better.

Let's just ignore the fact they beat the European Champs at their own place.

Yeap a point against Mac City will be superb and huge confidence booster going into the festive fixtures where we need to get points from all the teams.

Aguero being out will help but I fear we're playing them at the wrong time, they've just beaten the European Champions in their own back yard (only team to get anything there all season) and smashed 6 past the most in form team in the league. Although it would be very City-like to bottle it against us off the back of those results.

Is Aguero 100% out? Will have to switch him for Negredo in the fantasy team

And now Zabaleta out with a hamstring. Micah Richards is already out with the same, so they will be a wee bit less forceful attacking on the flank and hopefully a wee bit vulnerable too.
