CHELSEA won’t be practising penalties before their Capital One Cup game at Sunderland this week.

Jose Mourinho’s side, who won 4-3 at the Stadium of Light in the Premier League earlier this month, return on Tuesday night with a place in the semi-finals at stake.

The Blues boss already plans to rotate his squad for the game, and plans to give skipper John Terry a night off, if Gary Cahill is deemed fit to play after missing yesterday’s win over Crystal Palace as a precaution.

Branislav Ivanovic is suspended, so Cesar Azpilicueta will switch to his favoured right-back role, with Ashley Cole returning on the left.

Mourinho’s men will not be practising penalties, despite the fact the match could be decided on spot-kicks if it remains all-square after 90 minutes and extra time.

“I practice a lot and we always lose on penalties,” said Mouronho. “This time we don’t practice.”

Leave Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Lampard and Torres out and we have a chance, I want Gus to play a full team maybe starting Fletcher, Gechi, Johnson, Gardner, Cattermole etc. And we are Chelsea's bogey cup team !.

Don't know, but hope he's better than Giaccherini. Really can't work this player out.

Already a bit of the Sess scenario surrounding him. No doubt a talent, just the SAFC curse strikes yet again.

I'm not quite sure if fits in anywhere (sounds familiar)

Brings me back to the point I was making the other day about our transfer dealings, just buying players without a thought on how they'll fit in

I hope he starts Hazard expecting him to have it won in the first 20 minutes. First tackle will destroy him and we give them the run around.

He just didn't want to waste their time, knowing we'd have them beaten by then. Good decision.
