Alright people. Thinking back to the thread last night about that wierdo Jap movie.

Got me thinking, what is the best film about football hooliganism? Not glorifying it BTW, but I'm sure one or two of us older one's on here have been in a few scrapes over the years, back in the late 70's, early 80's maybe.

Anyhow, my pick would be, although not strictly all about football violence as it was mainly used as a backdrop fo the first 30 mins or so is Rise of the footsoldier.

Got to be one of the better ones.

Just wondered what you guys thought.

No, just sticking to football lads, nee football in Rompa Stompa like.

I.D. had to be the ****test footie hoolie film ever made, they didn't weven have real teams in it just made up ones. Pathetic.

Cass was good but I never got to see the end.

BCSteve, if you want just pure, working class violence then watch Once We Were Warriors. Set in New Zealand. It ****ing horrified me so much I almost kicked the telly in.

Not films I watch as they are ****e, not for me why not broaden the thread to best footie film ever, for me it's the damned united, much better than any drivel about thugs.....no place in football for me. I've been to more matches than I can remember and at no point ever have I wanted to attack someone because they supported another football team.......pathetic, anyone who ever had a fight because of football.....PATHETIC!

I'm with you Tony. These films just encourage violence and thuggery and anyone who praises them in anyway is just a wannabe hooligan to me.

Damned United was Brilliant (and still is). I have it on DVD and watch it regularly

Dont agree sorry, I love Violent movies, but the last fight i had i was 13 (39 now), I also play Violent Games, doesnt mean i am going to go out and kill someone or just get in a fight for the hell of it. Drink, Drugs and just ppl that would do it normally are to blame, not films or games.

What a sweeping statement, so all the millions that have seen these movies are now violent thugs?
And those of us who like them are wannabe hooligans?

    Dear me!

Romper Stomper is one of my fav movies.

Rise of the foot soldiers is good, as it's based on a true story,

And if you think Green Streets is bad, don't want the sequel as it's even worse.

The first and best, now about twenty or so years old was, THE FIRM, staring Gary Oldman, and I think this was the movie that set the ball rolling as it were. I watched a remake of this movie on Sky over xmas, and was useless compared to the first one, actually most, if not all remakes of great movies are crap, Get Carter, and The Italian Job to name but two, yanks doing remakes of great Brirish movies are a disaster.

OK I have to concede it may be a sweeping statement. I suppose the real attraction is because those who revel in it have, not experienced real violence at first hand.
Maybe the real thing will change their minds.
