Hi everyone, Goals from Smith, McCormack and Austin were enough to leapfrog us up to 6th place and a play off position. It was even sweeter that Leeds kept a clean sheet away from home. Donny actually had the ball in the net on the hour mark, only for it to be ruled out for offside. Rovers Manager Paul Dickov said after the game :- "We have lost 3-0 and in the second half we played really well and we took the game to them. "We caused them all sorts of problems in the second half and the offside goal was a big decision. "I have seen it again and Theo was a yard onside and with us controlling the second half, the least we would have gone on to get was a point. "The decision baffled me." Rovers were unlucky to go in at half time a goal down, a fingertip save from in form Kenny was enough to keep Wellens effort out. Had Rovers scored, or the disallowed goal had stood, would it have been a different game? Would we still have walked away with three points, after all we beat them in the Cup earlier this season at the Keepmoat 3-1? What do you think our chances are that we will stay in a play off position all over Christmas? Soon to be Leeds owner David Haigh has business to attend to in Austria next week. It has been heavily linked to Red Bull (the energy drink)... Could we be about to rename our Stadium? Would ol Elland have to change his user name? For the sake of lets say 10m, would you have any objection to renaming Elland Road? One of Red Bull’s biggest assets is Thierry Henry! Is it possible, knowing we need an experienced Striker, the 36 year old french man do a job for us until the end of the season? As the festive period draws near, thought we could have a bit of fun. Each day we will select a player, and think of a new chant, that is catchy, and could be used on the terraces. Lets start with Pugh today.
Are you on drugs Re Thierry? I would rename ER to anything other than OT for £500,000 it will still be er to me. Morning all
Evening Glory, its not that far fetched. Red Bull would pay for the majority of his wages.... Are you saying you wouldn't care, other than old trafford what ER got renamed as (and for 500k) The Ken Bates Stadium
Is St. James's Park still St James's park as far as the skunks are concerned? Case closed. TH wouldn't consider playing for any cc club. He has to protect his brand. So with all due respect not even worth thinking about. I would be more worried about red bull wanting us to wear red or putting new seats in.
And if they did, but were willing to pay 10m, what would you say? And as for Newcastle, yeah, they still play at St James Park...
Any name suggestions for Elland ? would have to have a connection to RED BULL to go with the ground name change. 1.Elland the RED. 2.Talks BULL. 3.BULLend. Think I better get my coat.
£10 mill is a piss in a bucket compared to what he will rake in from commercial activity. He wouldn't risk it. So we are agreed no matter what the signs say it would always be er. Only solution would be for rb to build us a modern stadium on a different site. Somewhere in North Leeds or wetherby please.
Yes to both. ER is very tired and it's location is crap. That would present us with a different problem though. All these identikit mechano grounds are soulless places. It needs a quality architect to give us something unique. The Emirates is about the best new ground and Leicesters the worst.
When we get back into the premier league our ground is too small, for the big games.Would need a partner like Red Bull to pay a large part of any build costs as the council don't seem to have any interest in the club.
I'd tell them to **** off. Too much of club owners thinking they can play fast and loose with tradition. The argument is always the same from the apologists "ye but it means a big cash injection and success" but where does it end? This is how it starts, they push it a little to see what they can get away with and before you know it they're doing whatever they want and it's not our club any more. No means no.
Evening all. As things stand, we'd have no difficulty filling a 38k stadium in the PL. If we're to compete, we need a stadium of 50 to 55k.... + owners with serious pennies. So if it takes someone like Red Bull to have naming rights & pay for a new build in Yorkshire, so be it. On the disputed goal, don't think it would have made a difference. 3-0 is better than 3-1, but it's still a win and 3 pts. Lets hope we get the game won early on Saturday so that Ross and a couple of others can come off at or before half time.
Was up in Leeds the other week for a meeting and the train back down passed ER and the Emirates. Thought at the time how tired looking ER was and later in the journey went past the Emirates and saw the contrast.
Our ground is a bit of a ****hole though. My seat must have been installed with Douglas Bader as the target market ( sth Std), the Kop is the same, the west stand is a museum piece and the cheese wedge is all restricted views. I have enjoyed it, but would move to something better in a heartbeat.
Unlike JB, DH is taking his club to the promised land. Not so much a choo choo more a deafening roar.
