simple fact he won, and the controversy it will cause, has saved him from a penalty

well done, as a vettel fan i wanted him to win but button proves he is mclarens best driver once again.

    well done

good day for vettel despite this, extends his championship lead even further in what was expected to be a bad weekend for redbull

Lucky the safety car came out after he got a puncture.

But a great great victory for JB, those McLarens are so fast in race pace. Vettel buckled im afriad (he is human after all) but the championship is he's for sure!

he gave alonso enough space, who just thought "you're not passing me" and then turned into him. quite clear if u watch it a few times.

why? Would you cry if Button was 7th demoted to 10th. No, the fact you don't want a Vettel win is skewing your view. This is the sort of situation that will bias the stewards into sparing him a penalty

Dont talk rubbish. Seems you didn't watch the incident. Alonso gave him room but Button still speared his rear tyre

I think button didnt do anything wrong in his two accidents, to take his win away would be a shame.

but you are proving my point saying it would be a shame to take his win away. The penalty for the race winner should be the same penalty for someone who finished in 15th

There is a video of the incident here.

The way I see it is Button gets his nose just in front of Alonso before he hits the brakes. Being on the inside, and not on the racing line, he has to brake earlier than Alonso. Alonso takes a wider line into the first part of the chicane, but then has no choice but to run into Button. Alonso could have backed out before turning in, or Button could have braked earlier to avoid the collision.

At the end of the day though, Button has to go for the gap that is there, it was a definite chance, and Alonso has to decide whether to defend or back out and nail him in the DRS zone. Tough call, neither clearly had the advantage, so I'd put it down as a racing incident. Any other reasonable interpretations?

in your opinion. In mine he does and the penalty should have been given on track to avoid this post-race mess. The fact that Jenson has won has saved him however as the stewards strive to avoid a repeat of Spa 08

But are you more annoyed Alonso missed out on a Podium / Win chance ?

as a vettel fan i would be happy if button gets a penalty, however would seem very wrong considering he drove brilliant and managed to take hamilton out, he deserves it i guess

First time poster on the f1 forums I'm usually over at the football. As a Schumacher fan for 13 years I am bursting with pride right now he didn't get a podium but that was inspiring. Hope he signs that new three year deal

A cracking win, but its clear he is learning from Hamilton ;)

Take out your team-mate, take out Alonso, have a couple of penalties, throw in a few other stops to change tyres, then charge for the win overtaking everyone in sight!

Can you get live betting for F1? What were the odds for him winning the race when he was 21st!?

Just shows you should never, ever give up.
