Why is it low? It's entirely factual. Redknapp knew the situation and pushed his case in the media anyway. I'm not knocking what Redknapp did for the club, just pointing out why he got the boot.
The worst part is that I'm not even annoyed or upset or anything. I feel nothing. This is how I feel with the England cricket team at the moment - I don't expect a win, I don't expect a good performance anymore.
Levy owns a big chunk of the club. Can't see him going, somehow. Wonder what Baldini's up to tonight?
The point about knowingly made things difficult re Levy and his personal grief. As if that was true I doubt Levy and Redknapp would have parted on good terms. Redknapp got the boot as Levy wanted to go down a different line, younger manager, rebuild the squad. I know fans love to think he was booted for being a gob****e but that isn't being factual.
Spurs' results have been good apart from three stand out games v West Ham, City & Liverpool. I'll ignore the Newcastle result which was down to Krul's performance. City & Liverpool were vastly superior on the day as Spurs seemed lacklustre and lethargic and didn't close down those players who thrive on having time and space. With Dawson unable to cope with players of the ability of Aguero and Suarez (no surprise to me), the defence was opened up too easily and too often. But two poor showings against strong attacking sides and a blip against West Ham shouldn't detract from Spurs getting results in most other games (over two points per average in these games) even if the performances have not been thrilling. AVB has had to rebuild his team and squad knowing that he is expected to deliver results from the start of the season with these players. He has been conservative in his tactics because against most teams he has been confident that the opposition can be prevented from scoring - and for the most part that has been correct. He's not alone in finding out that if you don't close down the top teams though, they will punish you - Arsenal, Utd know this as do many of the lower placed teams. 27 points from 16 games, 8 from the top is where most of us would have expected to find this new Spurs team, performing reasonably well. AVB deserves 6/10, doing OK, but could do better rather than the slating he's getting.
Redknapp knew that Levy's mum was dying, as it was common knowledge. We knew on here. He still talked to the media about getting a new contract, brought in Paul Stretford who was Rooney's agent when he got a big pay bump and was linked with moves to Qatar, Russia and anywhere else with cash. I'm sure that he didn't do so with the intention of upsetting the chairman, but his timing was bloody awful, especially when he'd been backed so heavily during his court case and the subsequent poor form.
"I know fans love to think he was booted for being a gob****e but that isn't being factual." I know some fans who would love to think other fans claim Arry got the boot for SOLELY being a gob****e ...
The papers said that AVB had until the Liverpool game to save his job. Based on that display, we can say he handed in his notice.
I never wanted harry gone but totally agree with this...plus after saying that the players didnt care about him leaving for england he then complained his lack of a new contract offer (after he'd turned one down cos of the england job) was now affecting the same players...while levy was in the USA burying his mother...there was only ever going to be one result
That was my point, he never intended to cause any extra grief as he isn't scumbag. But sure timing wasn't great and I'm sure all of us have been guilty of saying wrong things at a bad time.
"there was only ever going to be one result" And allegedly Uncle Joe pulled the trigger (too soon apparently - as those in the club with the executive power to do the formalities were not around to do his bidding) .
Well, we got our arses handed to us. Then, they found more arses and also handed them to us. And again, and again. By the end we looked like just arses and nothing else. Liverpool were good, but they didn't do anything spectacular to rip us apart, that is worrying. We wouldn't have scored if that match had gone on all month. I'm very quickly being lured over to the AVB out brigade. Yeah we won 2 games recently, against relegation fodder after going behind. Either side of those we have a -11 goal diff against the teams we're supposed to be competing against. Drastic improvement needed, and fast Mr AVB
