At smaller charities, yes. Bigger charities have employed directors but its not that common, usually just have a executive officer or something to do the work for them

My aunty in law runs an animal charity a very large one rehoming cats and dogs but not sure if she takes a wage. Majority of her workers are volunteers I think though

All charities are different but most have staff to run things behind the scenes. Very few are completely volunteers, the ones that are are usually run by someone that holds the charitable aims personally

We have a team of about 120 people but only four employees (34hrs (me), 30hrs, 30hrs and 20hrs per week) and ten voluntary directors. We had eighteen staff about four years ago

 

Don't get rid of them but I think you need to start from now considering the quiet word
