If we can't turn it on in this league, no way will we in the Prem, without yet another (inevitable I fear) squad transplant next summer. Although from what Yorkshire says on another thread we began to click second half today. I don't think Harold will attempt the prem with this squad. He'll demand more players or retire. And actually I wouldn't blame him.
26pts out of 30 at Loftus Road and sitting top of the table. Clearly room for improvement for a team that is considered crap and uninspiring by many QPR fans. I must be watching something different because I must be the only one who think we have we have a very good side who will win the championship and for me come May that's all that matters.
Yes we should win the league, we have the best and best paid players, a hugely experienced and highly rated manager, and owners that have the drive. If all you want is promotion good for you, but as this thread shows, other fans actually care about the quality of what they are watching as well as points. I think this league is **** and we should not only dominate it, but dominate it with style. Apart from a couple of glimpses we aren't doing that by a long chalk.
Agree. I am quite surprised by the negativity on here tonight...we won!!! There have been times over the past decade we would have been over the moon with a scrappy 0-2 away win.
Yes agree with most of that, but Reading and Wigan finished above us last season and before a ball was kicked the general consensus was they would be higher than us. Harry and co must be doing something right.
People keep saying things like this 'against a better team we could have lost' or 'could have been 3-4 down'. How many games have we dominated but failed to put our chances away or ONLY scored the 1? We're still picking up MORE points in these hard away games where we're being dominated for periods then we're losing....PLUS we're picking up points in the games where we're the better team and not being sucker punched (often). Blackpool away is a game when we were always likely to be pressured and pressed back. It's not pretty sometimes, it's frustrating often, but we ARE the best team at getting results.
Definitely some clowns follow this club and they've no understanding of this division . They're saying 'entertain me you bastards '...When if they had a clue and cared about the club they'd be saying,'good grinding win let's have another one and get out of this league asap ! '....
Its like Ive cloned myself a dozen times! However, it will be very scary next season if we do go up as the changes will be even bigger than they were last time.
When I look back at the last 18 years of football at QPR, i maybe enjoyed 2002/03, 03/04 and 10/11. The rest was ****ing dreadful, but it didn't make me go any less. Putting this season in context, it's nearer to 02/03 I'm enjoying the novelty of winning and having the majority of possession - but with the money we've spent I think people expect more. The season is Not the heady days of the 80s and early 90s of course, but better than most of our recent history.
I am a proper fan mate, and have been for 50 years. Is it unreasonable to expect to be entertained for my £700?
I have been very critical of some of our 'pointless' performances so far this season but we do need to keep a sense of perspective in all this. Yes we could have been 2-0 down if Blackpool had been luckier in the first half. But would that have been a that a real reflection of the game? They were marginally better than us in coping with the awful conditions during that first half and probably deserved to go in ahead at half time. But they only had those two clear cut chances during that period of dominance. If we are going to use that sort of logic, you might as well say in respect of most of our games that we could have been 8-0 up at half time while still playing badly. 65% possession and 10-11 shots on target even when we haven't been playing as well as we would like. "On another day against better opposition" With the exception of Burnley who outfought and outplayed us we have not yet encountered that mythical "better opposition". This is the Championship not the top of the Premier League. We are doing a job. We get on with it and the odd spell of brilliance apart it is competent and no more. I was mightily encouraged by what I saw today. We did enough but with some style and we showed something that I had not seen before. A willingness to change tactics and be quicker, sharper and more focused on scoring than simply keeping a nice clean sheet.
I wouldnt go that far but at least we looked good for 35 mins, before people were happy playing crap the whole game and sneaking a 1-0 lucky win. The next game will be a big one, we will sleepwalk through it again and get punished or will be finally play a 90 like we can and easily beat our nearest challengers?
A win is always better than a loss. Getting back to the PL is all I am concerned about. I was annoyed at HT today and have been ecstatically happy for hours afterwards. We're Queens Park Rangers, we're top of the league...
