    He was being closed down rapidly and the ball was bouncing awkwardly. I need another look but I don't necessarily think Davis or Boruc would have done any better with that.

    Well, they might have made a better contact (though probably so would Gazzaniga if he had another go), but they would have chosen the same option, I mean.

    Boruc would have taken more than one touch: first touch to flick it casually over the oncoming striker's head, second touch to volley it straight to Rickie's head.
