I spoke to someone who knew and talked to David Connolly, he was said to particularly dislike Pardew.

One quote from Connolly was: "You wouldn't get a ****ing pianist to run round the piano non-stop"

 

Sorry but I don't go along with that. Remember the season we had just had and the fact that he had virtually no time to work with the players pre-season. I think he did pretty well all things considered and he did bring some very important players into the club.

 

Considering that we rarely get them given that's not a bad record.

 

Lets play a game... can anyone name the two missed penalties? Who and where/when?

 

Matt Le Tissier, saved by Mark Crossley is the obvious one.

 

Nigel Quashie missed one, but that might have been in the Championship.

Looked it up, and it was in the league...March 24th, 1993 at the Dell.

 

Just had a quick search, although I couldn't find who missed the other penalty, I found out that it came between 1992-2002.

But still not a clue.

I think Beattie missed one (or had it saved actually), but I can't recall who it was against.

 

I think you're right. This thread: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/archive/index.php/t-28360.html? has a post saying they remember seeing Jim Magilton miss a penalty in 1996/7. I remember an article after Quashie missed his saying our run without a penalty miss extended back to 1997 so that matches up.

I think the other was Shearer...Leeds? When they were talking about penalties the other day on MOTD they ribbed him about missing a penalty for Saints. Missed one for us, one for Blackburn and one for Newcastle.

I remember that one that Sharp missed, but obviously not in Premier League

 

On SaintsWeb, poster called THEVMAN (who has contacts with some of the Saints coaching staff) said that Pochettino has dropped someone to the bench, which was a surprise to him when he found out who it was...I assume whoever it would be it will be down to tactics/squad rotation?
