Lawro says... Newcastle 1-2 Southampton "Southampton came off a run of three defeats to play really well and get a point against Manchester City last weekend. Saints had a few players missing too, so it is a sign that they are getting a bit of strength in depth. Newcastle, meanwhile, are the form team in the Premier League - they have won five of their last six home and away, and Saturday's win at Old Trafford was an outstanding result. In comparison, this game looks easier but I am always a bit wary of tipping the Magpies to win games that you might expect them to, because they are capable of beating anybody, but of losing to anybody too. When they are on song, I want to wax lyrical about them but they have drawn me in before then let me down, and more importantly let themselves down too. This is the kind of Newcastle team that could follow a win at Manchester United by playing Southampton at home and getting beaten, and Saints have already shown us they are definitely capable of going to St James' Park and winning."
Good to see Boruc in the background doing some light training in the latest photos from the training ground.
Tbf to Lawro [though I know I shouldn't], he has only followed a lot of us in our predictions. Though it still comes as a shaker.
Do you really call this reason? Remind us Lawro, which year are we takling about here. lol. I am predicting 2-1 win to Saints but still can't remember when we showed we can win at St James. Going back a few years that one. lol
I think Lawro means that we have already shown we are capable of getting good results against anyone...which is true
Yeah, but the odds are in Newcastles favour here based on home advantage and their current form, just seems like odd timing!
We're ****ed now. Thanks a lot Lawro. I think we actually turn it on and blow them away 2-0. Gazza in particular will put in a good showing. TEAM POSITIVE!
Whilst I agree he does have a massive ego, this particular comment has been taken out of context. He hasn't said it in a " I hate Southampton" fashion. His comments just before were praising all the players he's worked with, Lallana, Lambert, Schneiderlin etc and saying how he's pleased for them. He then added the "this is a game I really want to win" comment right after. Probably to show that his affection for said players will mean nothing at 3pm on Saturday. On a different note it looks like Debuchy is available for us now which is a big plus.
Fair enough GCB. A great example of why Pochettino chooses to speak Spanish to the press right there! (I still don't particularly like Pards though, sorry).
