I'm in two minds about SEB i think it could be two years too late for him.............but i'm sure MM is a better judge than me.....thats me as in myself and not me as in ME meaning Marcus Evans although i'm sure that MM is better judge than ME as in Marcus Evans.

He's definitely the type of player we need to push on, but wether he's back to any kind of level he was a few years back is debatable, and i'm definitely not convinced.
I don't think we'll get any transfers in in January, although it won't be from a lack of effort from MM.
I just don't think teams will let any of their decent players leave mid-season.
The only players that generally move mid-season are prem has-beens looking for one last pay cheque, or average champ players that can't get a game.

He may have just said that to keep McGoldrick and Murphy on their toes over the rest of December.

Even factoring in Marriott we do need more options and SEB would neither be the best nor the worst striker we could sign as backup. If we can get him on reasonable wages it's worth a punt but I'm sure we'd all rather grab someone prolific from the lower leagues.

He won't be coming here as backup. If he does sign, once fit him and McGoldrick will be our strikeforce, that's a certainty. ( if he were to come )

Can't go along with that. The team is doing superbly well and we have one of the deadliest attacks in the division (only Derby and Leicester have scored more). I would be disappointed if we tinker with the McGoldrick / Murphy partnership for a has been.

Agree...why rock the boat when for once in our lives, we are scoring goals...from almost every position! And his fitness must be in question..I mean a broken leg etc is serious. If he was to arrive just as we are closing the gap hopefully, it will unsettle things I imagine.

I don't think we've ever really suffered with having 'too many players' in one position.

It would bring the best out of some players and over the course of the season generally a large number of players are used. To say we don't need to strengthen is a little bit overly optimistic of our current situation, yes we have scored a high volume of goals - which is great. But if a player can offer something else then bring them in and strengthen the squad

certainly a good player at this level and the type of player I'd like to see us sign, obviously dependant on fitness etc. Think him and McG could be a very good partnership. The problem with that though is as I've always said if we get that striker who is what I say is a penalty box striker alongside McG it often means we lack that bit of height upfront or a target man and whilst we're not a hoof ball team if we were to play a partnership of McG and Blake I think we would need to be a little more precise with our play and change our style, with more creativity coming centrally and through the midfield.

Whilst we've certainly got enough strikers as we have in many positions adding a player like Blake would certainly be a positive as we do lack quality upfront

While I understand what you are saying regarding Murphy and McGoldrick, I think going forwards E Banks Blake could potentially be different level again.

Depends on his fitness/interest etc. Long time away with a severe injury may well ignite a player who really should on ability alone be playing his trade for a middle of the league premiership side.

Wages are another stumbling block too.

However, a fully fit/interested E Banks Blake and McGoldrick I would go as far as saying are ( service provided ) up there with the best partnerships I can see in the division ( in theory anyway ) !

I do wonder about Paul Taylor's future with us, and where this leaves him. Although not primarily a wide man, Hunt and Graham's arrival really do shut the door on that front. Also, Nouble appears ( from what I've read ) to be starting to play relatively well too.
