There aren't that many flat knighthoods really. Sir Henry was the first for a long time. Before that Noel Murless and before that Boyd Rochfort.
Can anyone think of any more?

    Sir Michael Stoute?

My father (a steelworker all his life) was fortunate to be given an OBE a few years ago. We went to the palace for the award - Shirley Bassey was there, being made a Dame, as was Barbara Windsor who was getting her MBE. But the rest was largely a collection of toffs with double-barrelled names. We felt quite out of place <laugh>

Yes Dan. So I never count it.

But for Sir Henry they were both the Queen's trainers. But Hern didn't get one, and although Stoute has one he had it before he became the Queen's trainer.

You'll probably find SBC is actually Sis Barney Cholmondeley-Chuckles.

That must have been a proud moment Oddy. I remember one Christmas with Barbara Windsor. She used to own a pub near us and we were talking to her outside on a bench. She had my son on one knee and my daughter on the other.......................................................... It doesn't get any more exciting than that.
