So if Laudrup isn't suited to us how do you explain us winning a cup and getting a higher position in the Prem than under your little Irish Demigod? god thats easy to answer...We were still playing our own brand of football at the time and its no coincidence that he started to make his changes after the final ...so he gets no credit for that using rodgers system.. You go and check on our record of results from the time he started to mess with the team to the present day and you will not fail to see that we have been rubbish and slowly getting worse, we get the odd win here and there and you think thats fine... and while doing that check the amount of possession we have had. It don't make good reading but you continue to support him as we cant do a thing about it. that is jinx job but he won't fool me and many others that is rising that he has been good for the club as his record proves otherwise...
Dai, our style started to change day 1 under Laudrup, starting with the QPR win....which I think you tried to credit to BR, even though we were playing far more narrow and direct in that game. To suggest he didn't change a thing until this summer is utter nonsense, to be polite.
I think Dai has made some valid points, and I suppose you could bury your head in the sand and say, "Well look we are 10th and in Europe"? what more do you want! But the truth is our form is dire, and consistency has gone, if any of you think we are going any further in Europe with this way of approaching games then you are sadly deluded, and you can make all the excuses you like, but we are not a patch on our first two seasons in the premiership, and it's clear to me that Laudrup really has his work cut out from here on in, as if we continue the way we are, then last seasons capitulation, will look like a walk in the park! Do you think that the powers that be at the Liberty, who have spent years working hard to get us where we are, are happy with what is being dished out at the moment? Well I can tell you they are far from happy, and Huw Jenkins has already given you hints in the press regarding the Negative approach to this season coming from the dressing room and Manager, now while our board and Chairman have gone quiet on this front, believe you me wheels are in motion for next season to readdress our failures of this season. Christmas is upon us, there are now some very tough games before January, anyone care to predict where we will be going into the January transfer window?
really annoyed with that performance, watched the game in the local boozer live from 2am - 4am. have had about 2 hours sleep and trying to work, however my grumbles are nothing compared to the travelling fans who for all their efforts and money were treated to that. not right at all, the supporters should have their travel costs refunded by the club as that is the worst performance i've seen in a long time. as for where we are, it's motivation and attitude, thats all. of course when it's as bad as it was last night, then it's quite a lot. however i still think when we play well, we are a better team now than under BR. we are a more rounded 3-dimensional team under Laudrup, but yesterday was a dimension i'd happily not see again. the upside is we'll beat Norwich on sunday - you heard it here first
The way we are playing at the moment I'd take 2 points from our next 4 games and then we play Utd and City Don't think we'll be top half after these games, and we will be in big trouble if we keep playing the gutless way we have.
As this group went on we have gotten progressively worse. 2 wins from the first 2 games, then 2 draws, then 2 defeats. 4 goals in the first 2 games then 2 goals in the next 4 - none in the last 2 of those. I wonder if we'll actually score another goal in this competition at the moment. We don't seem to look like we are capable of it.
and how many variables did you include in that , 2 draws when we were cruising to a result individual errors /loss of concentration meant we dropped 4 points , beaten by a good Valencia side at home , never mind eh , not once have we put out the same side so perhaps consistency could be a factor .That also could be considered as to our current league form ?. Our passing style still exists (2nd only to Arsenal ) it's just the pace at how we do it has altered .
Good post I thought it was quite funny myself - and actually possible, bizarrely I don't think there's anything wrong with having a moan at the team when they deserve criticism. They're all paid a lot of money to do a job and the crux of the matter is that they're "not turning up for work" or been "taking a few sickies" lately, if you'll pardon the analogies. That's just professionalism, never mind the passionless nature of some recent performances. @NoOneInParticular - Dai does make some valid points but tends to repeat himself a bit much. If that bothers anyone they can put him on ignore. I have no problem skipping things I get bored of reading. I do find it odd that so many are irritated by Dai yet continually carry on pointlessly "arguing" with him. If you've made your point then why keep repeating it? Especially when you already know you'll never see eye to eye It just pollutes threads. And so... Nobody (rightly) moans about all the jubilation after a win. There's also bound to be despair after a loss! It's all part of investing so much emotion in your team. It's not a logical state of mind a lot of the time and we'll almost certainly have more downs than ups but that's the ride. There are also more important things in life and this is just an online forum for airing views. Notice the bit I bolded? They can be negative as well as positive
Is this not the same Dai that was harping on about Laudrup taking us down at the end of last season, saying we were only so many points away from the relegation zone, yet we finished 9th. This time he is saying the same things, same arguments, yet we sit in 10th. This season we are in 10th on 19 points. after 15 games. First season we were on 17 points (finished 11th) Last season we were on 23 points (finished 9th) So we are doing better under ML than we did under BR, and Dai, that is a FACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So why do you love BR so much, and moan about ML so much, you definitely have an ulterior motive to your harping on. And what is even more impressive, BR had a team that were playing well together, ML brought in multiple players in season 2, and also in season 3. We have also played in the Europa League this season. So why all the panic stations by some, the performances are not there, that is for all to see, but bloody hell, some need to wake up to some sort of reality here. As mentioned even the likes of Spurs, Liverpool, Newcastle have struggled with the Europa, so why do some of you expect us to be any different, it was always going to be a tough task, and yes our performances are nowhere near what they should be, but roll on a bit of continuity over the xmas and new year where we get full training, and more likely to be able to field the same team more than 1 game in a row. We will be fine, just you wait and see. Just be grateful your not Man Utd fans, hell you would be pulling your hair out by now.
His favourite line is always 'we are only x points off the relegation places'. (Where x is usually a number less than 10). And we all know that the top 7 or 8 teams gallop off into the sunset leaving the rest of us in a sort of relegation scrap (some teams are a bit more comfortable than others, but all teams know a run of poor results will suck them back into the dogfight). But I think Dai fails to understand the mechanics of gaining points at the bottom. In 90% of cases, the top 8 will not lose to the bottom 12 and therefore nobody in the bottom 12 tend to go anywhere very fast and they certainly don't all move upwards quickly at the same time. 10th place is a good place to be. (yes, i also think we can do better than that, but maybe not this season as Europa is taking its toll). Don't worry though - we're not likely to be in it again for a good while.
One of the points Dai makes which I think is valid is that we may be 10th but it's actually only six points from 19th, therefore hardly as secure as it appears (yet!). Whether this gets lost in amongst his many other (negative?) points I'm not sure You know what, I think it'll do them good to know some failure, a reality check. A lot of their "fans" only started supporting them because they were winning everything anyway (I've known a few) No dynasty lasts forever! Edit: aswan's mentioned the 'we are only x points off the relegation places' while I was writing this
Sorry but it did not, he admitted at the time that he knew absolutely zero about our players and less about British football...his words.....so how do you expect him to change things???? On top of that he was employed by jinx on the understanding that we continue to play our brand of football....If you were to look at his work even from day one but especially from the cup final then if you think we have not changed and not as productive as we were then thats your view but you will be in the minority here as results and lack of confidence don't back you up....
Just an observation but can you actually post anything of a positive note , the weather was nice today or I had a lovely pair of dark green wellington boots , you know that sort of thing .You know you want to
Ain't gonna happen. **** - imagine if you were his wife/ partner/ significant other! "Yes you look nice today but you could have made more of an effort - you'd look even better." "I think Dai fails to understand" You could have stopped right there AD.
