I doubt they will, they'll look at how this is liable to impact on other clubs. If they feel the other clubs would like the option to change left open, we're not a big enough fish to stop it unless we can make the precedent very vague.
Did the FA give fair thought to Wimbledon fans ? I know the circumstances are different but their fans were completely ignored in favour of the 'greater good' of the game. I've a nasty feeling Hull Tigers might be the guinea pig in a media sponsored FA experiment to test the global market for the 'greater good' of the game.
If anything the Wimbledon situation would be another reason for the FA not to agree to this name change, especially considering how they handled that and the response from near enough every person around the country.
I'm not sure they will but if enough publicity is created & maintained, enough letters are written to all bodies concerned, enough emails are sent to all bodies concerned, enough cooperation is sought from supporters, officials & owners of other clubs, the right backing is given by official supporters trusts & bodies & enough support is generated from people in the public eye then I do think it will be difficult for the FA to sanction the proposed name change as it will be nigh on impossible for them to explain, advocate, support & ultimately accredit & justify it. I think that is the longest single sentence I've ever written.
Sorry to disappoint you, but CTWD represents the views of its members and supporters. I would have thought that was fairly obvious.
As I've said before do Sky, BT, Barclays etc sell football around the world as a traditional English (and Welsh) sport, with history and heritage and with traditional names? Do they want football clubs to be rebranded with the names that sound like American ice-hockey teams or do they want to keep the Uniteds, Citys, etc? If they want to keep the traditional names of English football teams there will be only one loser Assem Allam.
Oh here's the other one. If the FA accepts the name change then the name change will go ahead. At which point there's 3 groups of people: 1) People who are pro-name change. 2) People who are anti-name change but on the grounds of lack of benefit being demonstrated. 3) People who are anti-name change on the basis of history. Group 1 will be fine with it. Group 2 won't be happy about it, but equally won't want the name changing back unless it shows later on that there's been a negative impact from changing the name. Group 3 will want the name changing back and will do so on various levels ranging from grumbling about it a bit, to boycotting the club completely dependent on the individual. Personally I'm in group 2.
What possible interest would a name change provide the FA?, all you are doing is speculating corruption which is unfounded. I know just as much as you do about what goes on behind the scenes at the FA.
