Autosport : 18:22 Just a few miles to the north conditions are clearing, but the circuit is now sitting as the northern edge of this latest band of rain and the downpour continues.
IMO Button did nothing wrong. Hamilton could have backed out when he realised the gap was closing and for some reason didn't. Hamilton's front wheel was only alongside Button's rear wheel. As Button said, "What is he doing?" Webber gave Hamilton plenty of space, Hamilton wanted more. Schumacher/Hamilton 50/50. Schumacher defended and then took up a more usual line into the hairpin, Hamilton successfully avoided him.
100/0 Hamilton/Webber / Hamilton/Button 50/50 Schumacher/Hamilton Button did nothing wrong neither did Webber
"Do birds have shoulders?" This is like the bloody cricket commentary. It's not like nothing's happened in the last two weeks.
Well I should think with your teammate - who you did see, you give a little bit more space. That's why I say 50/50. Webber gave some space, but he certainly didn't steer away. Schumacher made more than one move, which I view as penalty worthy - Hamilton was punished earlier this season.
Button did nothing wrong FACT. Webber did nothing wrong FACT. Schumacher did nothing wrong FACT. FFS face FACTS.
Why? Why should he? He did everything he should have to avoid an accident. You're allowed to make two moves - one to defend and another to take the corner.
Having only now seen the Hamilton/Button incident, I'm still not sure where you put blame. I think Hamilton got caught out by the slight right hand bend in the track at the point where the incident occurs. Button covers to the left, and leaves enough room for Hamilton, I think expecting him to back out. He doesn't, and because Button has committed, he can't move the other way or he risks getting a penalty. By leaving his foot in, Hamilton got into the gap left by Button, but just as the curve in the track closes the gap. Or, am I giving Button too much credit to think all of that through on the spot? If he didn't see Hamilton, there is no reason for him to pull across to the left, so I don't feel that argument can be used to protect Button.
Where's that guy saying Vettels not lucky, looks like he might not even have to do another lap this race and still get maxi half-points!
Eh? He pulled over to the left because that's the normal line for the right-hander they were approaching.
