Update... Was reading on Sky that St Gallen are missing their first choice front two who both have cruciate injuries. Ouch! And one of their key defenders is out too. We'll never have a better opportuity to make history.
Squeeky bum time but I think we'll do it What's interesting me is whether Laudrup's thinking "a draw will do". It worries me with some of the apparent lack of effort in some games recently that it might have suited us better to have had to win this game.
a) to e) are irrelevant as both games between us and Krasnodar ended 1-1, so goal difference for all group games is the next deciding factor if we both end up on 8 points. Could be two very strange games tonight since Valencia & St Gallen have nothing to play for. Pride perhaps, for St Gallen, but I don't see Valencia going out of their way to do us any favours. Reserve team for them, I suspect. Are both games being played at the same time?
Looks like they'll be playing in a fog bank! Watching ITV4. Team: Tremmel, Taylor, Amat, Chico, Tiendalli(?), De Guzman, Shelvey, Lamah, Pozuelo, Routledge, Bony. (I think, typed this from memory)
25 Tremmel 19 Tiendalli 03 Taylor 08 Shelvey 04 Chico 02 Amat 15 Routledge 20 De Guzmán 10 Bony 24 Pozuelo 14 Lamah
If we lose then i wont be sorry this season as we can give our full attention to the premiership and should we go through then we will just have to hope for the best..
Really. No need for that. Poor game but we're playing with fire at the moment. The players clearly have one eye on the upcoming Norwich game which is understandable but if Kuban turn it on and get a result at Valencia and we lose a sloppy goal we're out. Lamah looks busy to be fair and Bony hasn't missed a 50-50 header. Other than that we've been playing within ourselves and yet again our passing game has been poor. Against a better team we'd be two down already.
Comfortable enough without stirring the blood. Obviously Laudrup will take the draw and I get the feeling that he's equally concerned about making sure we don't add to our injury list. Slippery conditions aren't helping and I feel we are just doing enough. Lamah looked tidy for very brief flashes and I get the feeling that if he really applied himself, took his man on and used his speed, he could be a decent player. Talking in general now, not just about tonight's performance. Like most of his team mates though, he needs to learn to shoot. Tiendalli having another dodgy game and he seems content with a contract that sees him ok for a while. He's nothing like the player of last season and just isn't putting in the effort he did then. On course right now but I wonder if we can step it up if the Valencia game takes an ugly turn.
Very even so far even though as usual we have superior possession. 4 shots each off target and just a solitary one on target for both teams. A draw will see us through if it stays this way..
I have screamed at my telly just the once - WHY CAN'T ANY PLAYER TAKING A CORNER CLEAR THE FIRST ****ING MAN????
