Thing is, no one is really saying he's a god, no one is saying he's Messi, but he gave me (and lots of others) the best entertainment I've ever seen at Loftus Road.

Don't understand why some people get such a bee in their bonnet whenever his name is brought up. Very strange.

Love him or hate him, he brought a level of skill not seen at Loftus Road since Stan Bowles. Like many of those blessed with a mercurial talent he has some mental flaws which will most probably prevent him succeeding at the very top. But he was a joy to watch in the championship and if we had him back we would surely be promoted.

But that wont happen because we would need a manager (and a squad) who would put up with his tantrums and ego, and Harry wont.
Therefore I doubt if we'll ever see him in the hoops again and we need to move on, but god the football we're playing isnt half as exciting is it?

if he was half as good as he thinks he is, he would be a better team player

Thats the issue mate, Its been posted on our wall numerous times that he is better than Zizu ever was and is going away to play with Messi ! complete joke. Obviously me, swords & every other premiership manager over the last 3 years are wrong, because we wont touch him with a barge poll?!!
    bit comical really isnt it?
All the managers are wrong, Every player he's played with is not good enough & he's not even getting a game.
Still, what do Ferguson, Pepe, jose etc know about football eh?

Totally agree he provided some of the best enterainment at LR though. I only remember watching Ryan Giggs do anything similar in recent years. Not that Id even start to compare them <ok>

    Very strange?!

I'm firmly in this camp. My favourite player in recent history by a country mile. Come back Adel, all is forgiven.

I come from a point of view what he did and how he plays attacking football Queens . Off the pitch or his personality don't touch that for me
It's his control and vision with the ball I score him on and in that he is as remarkable as Zidane
    That's my focus on comparison
As a team player maybe even as poor as Zidane was at times
Zidane was a very quiet man on and off the pitch was slightly better as tackling and tracking back and a far better header of the ball
Zidane went to the very top IMO and still remains the benchmark but Adel has these very talents
Of course he is miles away from achieving what happens when greatest is put onto you Zidane had just a crap start at times
I see a direct comparison with the two in terms of footballing skill that's all
I have seen Messi live a few times and believe me here his game is all about the other players around him
He is brilliant but take away Xavi and Inesrsta and he does struggle at times yet he has fame poured on him
Ronaldo is best by far but I am convinced that Taarabt could play at this level without doubt
It's his attitude that is dreadful and I doubt if there would be any arguments on here about that
The boy must get his head right and only then may we see him do it
He is a big head but one **** hot player in the making ... Also he is still QPR and that feels awful IMO as a waste

I hope you and others see where I am on him its a waste for sure and no one can seems to sort him out off the pitch

He believes in his skills and is blind to what he needs to do

He is unplayable on his game and has to be spoiled to stop him playing but the boy has the tools again he is QPR I have to keep faith

DT..massive respect mate. There is not a word of that I disagree with and if you had posted like this many time before instead of getting caught up in the excitement, then i would gladly have backed you all the way.

you are saying what we have been saying for so long. He has the talent & skill; he just doesnt ave the side of the game that COULD turn him into a top pro. i think he needs new advisors and a new challenge. No one in the Prem will touch him and in hindsight it may have been best to stick with us in a lower league and rebuilt his obviously shattered confidence & belief.
Maybe a couple of season in France may get him back to somewhere near his best. Problem is the french league is very competitive for players.
Unlimited amount of unused African talent. fitness is not an issue for them and lots of them (drogs, diakite, eto, etc) have come from poorer places and have the drive & determination to make it through. you obviously know all this anyway.
Im not saying the standard of the French league is any higher or lower btw.

Anyway DT, we can but hope he sorts his head and decides to be bothered about something or another, because if he doesnt then next stop Brentford in thier shiny new stadium !!

No, I'm pretty sure that those thinking Adel is or could be as good as Zidane or Messi are the minority of about one. The vast majority of us who appreciate the best skill to adorn our kit would in all likelihood not be considered for such teams due to his personal traits.
However, was he and could he be an asset for us? Undoubtedly yes
Would it mean having a management that would center everything around this time bomb of a personality? Yes
Would in all likelihood a side containing Taarabt walk this league and play half decent football in the process? Most probably yes
Does Taarabt owe anything to us? - I'd say no
Does Taarabt deserve a modicum of respect from us? - Yes
Will O'Neil,Krancjar,Granero,Bosingwa,Henry,Zamora,Mbia,SWP,Ferdinand,Benayoun,Jenas et al ever join QPR folklore? - Never! Will and has Taarabt? - You betcha, for a fraction of each of those wages.

Get off his back, please read the following - Taarabt does not equal Messi, Zidane, Ronaldo and their likes in full comparison of careers and consistency - Taarabt equals each and every one of those in the fleetest of glimpses and that was more than enough for us.

During the Promotion year we got a Hell of alot more and we were all equally frustrated how it turned out in the Prem as he could obviously do it there as well but he, the Management, his peers, the stars conspired against us.
Those of you that choose to continuously denegrate him always bring up that he was useless in the Prem - Who was actually better than him and produced more during those 2 seasons? - I can only think of Nelsen, Helgusson, maybe Hill and in all honestly no one else.

I agree the rose tinted specs are put on to counter the sometime vitriolic position against him but in cold blood - Is there anybody else?

I'm pretty sure this thread is also a watershed - We are unlikely to debate him that much in the future as there is little or no likelihood of him coming back to us, most if not all have quite clearly stated we dont see him as a Messi but as a delight of a player recognised Worldwide for what he is - An Enigma, whether that is acceptable to the "other side" or not.

Danish, with all respect, i didnt read that ALL the way through (but I will i Promise you)
The reason being i dont need too

Lets make this REALLY SIMPLE shall we

If AT is so good the why isnt he playing for a top CL team?
    NO
If AT is that good why isnt he playing for a top Premiership team?
    NO
If AT is that good why isnt he playing for any Premiership team?

Fact is...He just aint good enough. We have 18-20 Prem managers in the prem who dont want him & countless more in Europe who aint intrested...

Now let me ask all of you this...If you were going tobuy a car (cue Swords) and it had a questionable history, then you would do some research
you find the car has been dumped by last 3 owners ansd isnt reliable
Doesnt dop what you want, breaks down easy & cant do as you want...
How much would you pay for that old Chug?!!

FACTS ARE...HE ISNT A REGULAR STARTER IN ANY PREMIERSHIP TEAM .....FOR A REASON !!
I just dont understand how you cant read the black & white ...?

Its getting boring explaining to people why a player who cannot hold down a place in ANY premiership football team...is NOT our god andsaviour

FFS..please wake up..! How sh**e does he have to beto make you realise....assuming he ever gets another game?

Appologies Danish..I have finished reading this thread as i said i would.
You consider Hill & Nelson as better players than him?
2(two) centre backs better than the player who is going to strike fea into the hearts of Manure etc..you are kidding surely?

Again...i appreciate your admiration for him, but question your loyalty. That is a choice of yours i totally respect

I have to say, that this post has been the most respectfull and well debatedof all the AT threads ever. I bear no malice to those with diffrent opinions and am happy that they will read (if not accept) my views, As i do to thiers..

Bloody good job Col & Fing aint here then....(joke boys)!!

    Cue abuse

    PS..the enigma thing

We are top of he league ( joint) without a clown or hindrance that dictates our style of play
Do / did we really need him

Danish..would you sacrifice your whole youth team and thier progression for a kid who turned up, sulked and forced you to sacrifice all the players around him, just so he could get you up and leave you...?
Only a mug would do that..Step forward COLIN

No way, but I do have Sefa and Nikolaj who have skills and talent to die for, they come from extremely different backgrounds. But both have equal measures of stubornness, lack of team ethics and general belief that they are better than everyone else because they can do things that the others cant. The joy is instilling and motivating them that the only way they will ever be truly succesful in anything they do in life, is ensuring that those around us are being helped to rise as far as we can and they with the most talent have the most responsbility. What we have done as the team is from predominantly 4 local schools is work with the teachers of those schools to ensure that we are all instilling the same values.
It is no coincidence that these boys are also improving their results at school, I suppose it took someone to truly care about them as people - I'm no Saint but I love the Youth, it gives me far more of a buzz then being with in general narrow minded and already set adults - I'm sure it has helped these kids to see a larger than life idiot not afraid to behave like an idiot in front of them - everyone laughs, but what Sefa and Nikolaj see is themselves and they notice that what I'm behaving like is them but not telling the other kids - they sure as Hell have had a wake up call to see themselves captured in such a way.
Adel is an idiot on so many levels and I'm absolutely sure he has had the worst of advice, no doubt - I also have no doubt that it takes tremendous energy and no small level of risk to take Adel on as a Manager - But if you do it, you have to truly want to do it and be in for the long haul. Colin used Adel, also no doubt and that was his choice to not carry it on once in the Prem.
Is Adel worth it? - I'm not sure at all and there have been some excellent point made to make me reconsider as I always answered yes to that before.
Could he and does he have it? - Yeah he sure does but again, I'm not so sure now even with the greatest of man management whether it might just be too late.

Warnock was a mug for devising a strategy that got us promoted and gave us the best season's entertainment we have had in many many years.

Can't believe we have reached 120 posts about a player who doesn't even play for us anymore!!!!!!!

All I will add is that looking at those goals and the assists in our promotion season make me realise that we really could do with some of that excitment this season.......true we are methodical in what we have done so far but we are far from exciting......
