Tactically it would have been the perfect sub to make. I tiring Napoli against a fresh legged Walcott would have kept them pegged back and given us an outlet. As mentioned, Walcott is also good defensively and would have sured up the right hand side.
It's a wired criticism to make of Wenger, because in the past, we always blamed Wenger for being too attacking and not shutting up shop. It's all about striking the right balance and he clearly failed on that front tonight.
That chance late on where giroud got through but didnt have the pace to get to the ball first would have been perfect for theodore
Disappointing loss to take but in context of the whole group one that I'd take. If we get one of the Big 3 in the last 16 we'd be up against it but it'd be doable. Tbf this loss might be a motivator. We have Chavski and City next so we need the boys to avoid complacency.
He's usually very good at getting the team to play positive attacking football when we only need to draw, as he understands that you can't go into games playing for a draw. But that's exactly what we did tonight and it wasn't helped by some poor substitutions. Very negative, and very un-Arsene/Arsenal like
to me Girouds chances always seem half arsed , he just doesnt make 100 per cent effort . Mr 85 per cent . he aint gonna make it.
exactly , we could all see he was playing NOT to lose . since when does that succeed ? facking crackers. The best way of guaranteeing that you dont lose .? WIN ! it aint rocket science. we were happy to soak up the pressure but we ALL know you cant soak up the pressure for 90 mins , no chance . You have to put THEM under pressure to take it off your own ass.
Dead on certainty we would have won 10-0 then! Don't know why they don't sack Wenger and make you coach! Never understand this. The normal logical thing to think is Wenger is a vastly more experienced and knowledgeable manager than I am, who has far more information about the players than we do; why am I wrong? On this forum, it is always, I know more about football than anyone in the world, I can make up any outcome around my tactical solutions that never happened, you are all fools for questioning my genius? You do realize if he had brought Walcott on and we had lost 3-0 you would all be saying he was an idiot for not bringing Ramsey on.
The only thing I worry about for the City game is how fresh we will be for it. Against Everton, we had to work hard, and tonight, especially that half, we got a bit of a run around. We the absurd kick-off time, considering our CL game, it's going to be big ask for the players to be at their best in terms of fitness. I would start Monreal at LB, play Walcott and Wilshere. Get in as many fresh legs as possible.
**** it, we're going out anyway, here's hoping we get Real Madrid, lets see what this defence can do against the legit best player in the world in Cristiano Ronaldo.
That's usually not his game and we got found out. Thankfully this should be a wake up call for him not to go for a draw.
Chez Sagna BFG Kos (Verm if Kos is knackered) Nacho Flamini Rambo Ãzil Theo Giroud Jack (Pod if fit and ready)
You really don't understand the world at all do you? We all know Wenger ****ed up, hell, even a dead goldfish would know that Wenger ****ed up today, how can you not get that through your thick skull and into that tiny lump that masquerades as a brain?
What in blazes are you going on about ? I'm one of Wenger's staunchest supporters but you have to call it as it is, and he got it wrong tonight both in terms of our approach to the game and the subs he made. It's pretty clear to see that. Unless you're trying to tell me that bringing on Ramsey and Monreal was an attempt to do anything other than to try and shut up shop ? Fine if you're winning, but it backfired tonight and almost cost us our place in the KO stages. I'm not professing to know more than Wenger, nor am I saying that we would have won 10-0 if we'd have played Walcott, so stop being so sanctimonious about it and just look at what actually happened on the pitch tonight.
agreed but i wouldnt risk the Pod in such a big game , hes gonna be rusty and might be a spare prick at a wedding .
oooooooooooo theres the dichotomy, right there . Toledo wont get his head around that . welcome to the club .
